Michele 1 #1 October 29, 2004 Hi, all. Some of you know that my father is an actor... My father just called. His commercial agent just called him, and there was a request to have him bring me to an audition this morning; the call is a father/daughter thing for a big financial planner (Merrill Lynch). Not only is it a national run commerical (like his Prestone one right now), but it also involves print work, as well. Lots of exposure and cash for him (not me...I'm not union...) Now, Dad told his agent that I'm not an actor although I've done some things in the past. The agent said it doesn't matter, they want to see the both of us (how did they know he had a daughter?). After getting Dad to promise me he won't be mad at me if I blow the audition and cost him tons of money, I agreed to give it a go. LOLOLOLOL! So in about an hour, I leave for a national commerical audition. So please, send some vibes that I don't embarrass Dad too badly, and that even if they don't like/use me, they'll still consider using Dad.....I'd hate to blow this for him. And it really would be fun to work with Dad. Really, really fun...and absolutely an honor. I don't think I'll get it, but still....'twould be lots of fun. It was definitely an unusual experience. No nerves whatsoever. Turns out, my character is the only one with lines, so I was the mouth of the pair. Memorized it right up, and got my polaroid taken (I haven't any headshots....). Dad said "don't worry, it's normal to be nervous," to which I replied "no reason to be nervous, it's not like I'm jumping from a plane or anything" and we both cracked up. I really wasn't nervous - not much, at least. Having my father there really was reassuring...of course, if it weren't for him, I wouldn't be there in the first place, but anyway..... Said the lines, played around with my father - he was cracking jokes in the room, just being his goofy self - and said the lines a 2nd time. And then it was done. No big deal. As we left, I asked him if I did all right, and he said "I never thought you wouldn't, Michele. You didn't let me down." As that was my only concern - only concern whatsoever - I felt just fine. As to whether or not we'll get it, it's a guessing game at this point. I could be too tall, too short, not blond, not ethnic, not ??? whatever they want. But at least I know I didn't let my Pop down...and that's what matters most. Thanks for the vibes, guys. It went well. I'll let you know if we get the commerical.
