moodyskydiver 0 #1 November 1, 2004 The Vietnam Wall Experience is a traveling, three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. created as a powerful memorial and service to those who might never travel to the nation's capital. The exhibit crisscrosses the country every year, allowing millions to see and touch the black, mirror-like surface inscribed with the names of the 58,175 Americans who died or are missing in Vietnam. Honoring all U.S. veterans and dedicated to Vietnam veterans, the faux-granite replica is 240 feet long and eight feet high. Admission is free. I'm not sure how or why, but Huntsville,Tx was chosen to host the Wall Experience this year.It will be located near the Texas Dept. of Corrections Museum at 491 HWY 75 North. Although I've been to D.C. to the actual memorial I'm just as humbled by this experience as well. I am honored to be allowed to "stand guard" as a civil servant in my criminal justice honor society and assist those coming to the wall for the first time alongside fellow honor students, ROTC, historical societies, and other chosen student organizations from Sam Houston State University as well as community leaders. Remeber the price of freedom and show respect for those currently in our military as well as our veterans. info at: http://www.vietnamwallexperience.com/ "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
