Muenkel 0 #1 October 27, 2004 Teddy is about 6 years old. A little background info on him. My brother's nickname is Buddy and his wife is named Lisa, whom we call Lee. During the spring, they were having some problems with black bears on their property. Lee noticed an ad on the bulletin board of our local general store for a Black Lab that was up for adoption and was good at scaring bears away. When she researched it, she learned that "Teddy" was thrown from a van and abandoned. A woman took him in, but could not keep him. Not knowing his true name, she named him BuddyLee. My brother and his wife immediately adopted him. He is extremely gentle and has a very sweet demeanor. Lately, Teddy stopped eating. She took him to the vet today and was told that he had a ton of cancer and was in a lot of pain. Several hours later when she picked him up, the vet told her that it is possible it is not cancer, but a thyroid problem. Nothing is confirmed as of now. He is in a lot of pain though. I'm asking you folks if you could send your vibes or prayers that it is a thyroid problem because that is treatable. He's such a sweet dog and deserves a full life. Thanks in advance. _________________________________________ Chris

Muenkel 0 #10 November 2, 2004 I want to thank all of you for your vibes and/or prayers for Teddy. Unfortunately, Teddy died late this afternoon. Yesterday, Teddy stopped eating and was short of breath. My brother made a vet appt. for him for late this afternoon. He and his wife talked to their kids to prepare them. The most amazing thing happened. My brother's kids are age 15, 13, 10 and 6. They were all home from school and were sitting in their den watching TV. Teddy came in and one by one he placed his head on each of their laps and then licked them. Immediately after, Teddy walked into their pantry, laid down and died. This is a sad time for my entire family as we all loved that dog tremendously. A lot of tears have been shed and still are. Thanks for letting me share this with you folks and thanks for your support. Good-bye Teddy. _________________________________________ Chris
hooked 0 #11 November 2, 2004 I'm so sorry. He's up there playing and romping with all the fellow pets that have been lost to us. Hugs to the family for their loss. Muenkel 0 #12 November 2, 2004 Thanks Jan. I know you understand. It's amazing what animals know. How he said good-bye to each of the kids blows my mind. Teddy had the sweetest personality and was so obedient. When he gave you a lick, it would take up your whole face. _________________________________________ Chris
Evelyn 0 #13 November 2, 2004 I am so sorry. Black Labs are the most awesome dogs. Ours was 14 1/2 when he died and it was so hard to put him down, we actually waited too long cuz didn't want to see him go, we literally carried him into the vet to have him put down. So sad. I feel for you and your familly. Get a puppy. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing ~ Helen Keller
Muenkel 0 #14 November 2, 2004 QuoteGet a puppy. Thanks Evelyn. I really appreciate it. I will suggest the puppy idea to my brother. I'll wait until they can get past this loss first. _________________________________________ Chris

Letting me know he needed help and as soon as I came, he relaxed. "When he gave you a lick, it would take up your whole face"-------wonderful description, only a true dog lover would understand. jumpinfarmer 0 #17 November 2, 2004 Losing a dog is almost as hard as a family member, maybe even harder sometimes. My dog died much the same way a couple years ago. He lay on the floor in the kitchen all night and about 4am gave out a wimper that woke us up and then died in my fathers arms. the thing I'm most thankful for is that I didn't have to make the decision to have him put down. I don't know if I could have done that. My condolences Marc

Teddy came in and one by one he placed his head on each of their laps and then licked them. Immediately after, Teddy walked into their pantry, laid down and died. Oh, but isn't that just like Teddy? From what you've shared of him and his life, he understood he was loved, and he returned that love. He chose your family, and they chose him...and he lived well and fully. It's hard, when our furry friends pass on. It's hard because we remember the feel of their coats, their voices, their playfulness. And there is a hole inside when they leave, just like when a human leaves. And that hole, though...that hole can, when given time, fill in and bloom full of memories and remembered joy. It will fill in time - I promise that. I'm sorry for Teddy's passing, but I know he's in a sun-dappled green field, no problems or cares at all. And he will wait for his family, and when they cross, they will be met by him, and they will get that all-over lick on their face. Hugs to you...
