I thought about posting this in the womens forum (but didn't want to start a riot)

Deer will do plenty of damage to a 18 wheeler. Its just a fiberglass body mainly with perhaps a big shiny bumper and the grill work messes up just as easily as a cars.
It rerally depends on where the deer impacts, size of deer or other various critter and speed. Also alot of the newer sloped hoods on bigtrucks can actually put the animal thru the windshield which is also a common occurence with cars, and that can hurt.

but under no circumstances should you put your life and others on the line by swerving.

I'd get out of a way of a moose. They are very tall on their legs and its not uncummon when they get hit that their body slams into the windsheild and kills the occupants.

No kidding, I stand corrected. I wouldn't want to hit a fully mature deer with a huge rack either, but if I can get away with just sideswiping one instead of full head-on or running myself off the road into a tree or other car, I'll take it.

I'm not a truck driver but I assumed the driver's cab was high enough that no big animal was going to fly up that high and hurt the driver. Just that any hard turn with a full load has the potential to jack-knife or tip you over and destroy the entire rig. I've witnessed that a couple times. Once a couple years ago in Birmingham because some 18 year old idiot in a Chevy Caprice cut off a tanker truck, making that driver swerve to avoid, only to flip over and slam into a bridge support... BOOOOOOMMM and melts the steel girders on the bridge above. Hit the brakes and stay on course and the worst that happens (hopefully) is spinning the Caprice around or bulldozing it out of the way. Still, a Caprice is a lot bigger threat than a deer or moose, right?

Of course, the real problem people have is how they react at the critical moment, instinctive reflexes sometimes go the wrong way or route...

Little Debbie oatmeal cookie/cream pie things and those little brownies...I sit down and eat the entire damned box. Its almost as bad as giving me a block of cheese and a knife.:P

Blech, I used to make those. OCP's are literaly rework (scrap from other lines) with an industral stregnth (it blisters bare skin) oatmeal flavoring and some oats. The creme is vegitable shortning and sugar fluffed with injected air.

Useless trivia. Those cakes are hand-packed into those boxes.
