Going to Deland for first time, need help

This weekend I am driving down to Deland for my first Scott Miller canopy control course. While I am down there, I'm also hoping to check out the Mirage factory. Is there anything I should know before going, or other places I should go while I am there? I will probably be there from Friday night until Sunday afternoon.

Also- I am probably going to camp on/near the DZ, but I have not yet checked if that is allowed. Does anyone who regularly jumps at Deland know about that?

The DZ is great...just remember to take your USPA stuff and repack information. You should get measured for a Ouragan Suit while you're out there. Nancy's a sweet heart and has the best suits around.

As far as camping is concerned there is a bunkhouse which I think is 2 dollars a night and camping I believe is free. The landing areas are huge and you should have no problems.

camping at deland is free, enjoy yourself! If your looking to do some tours, check out Relative Workshop, its next door to Mirage and see if you can set something up with PD you if your in the mood for tours you may even be able to set something up with Jump Shack and stop by the folks at BirdMan and say hi,,,, theres lots to do and see in deland. Scotts course is GREAT enjoy it and learn alot!

If you are arriving after work hours on Friday, you might want to check first and find out if you can tour the factories on weekends. I'm thinking you can't, but I may be wrong. You will have no problem camping at the dz and the nighttime temps are finally comfortable. Hopefully I'll be able to come say hi, but I'm not sure because I need a repack and my rigger is busy this week.

Come see me! I'll be out on Sat. gimping around the dz in my pink shoes! I'll be flying in the tunnel Sat. night but if you aren't jumpin for some reason I'll buy ya a drink before I leave the dz.

Factories are closed on weekends. If one of my buddies at Relative is working, they might let us in to take a peek.

I've already sent an e-mail to Justin at Mirage, but I didn't realize the factories would probably be closed on weekends. Oh well, the course is what I'm coming down for, not the tour, although speaking to a Mirage rep and seeing some options in person would be nice.

I *MAY* leave after work Thursday and just sleep in my car that night, then jump Friday and Saturday, but I won't know my exact plans until tomorrow. Might even try to check the wind tunnel out while I'm down there, but all that is secondary to the course.

If anyone from Mirage is reading this and knows about weekend hours, I'd be happy to hear a definite yes or no, as I have not yet received a reply by email.

I've got 20 min. open Friday at 11:30pm-12:30am. Send me a PM if you wanna come fly with us. My b/f is an instructor so he'd do your coaching for free or at least help you out a bunch while you are in the tunnel. Needtojump is his name if you have questions for him about the time or coaching. Tell him I told you to hit him up.
