A cat PEED on my rig...!!!

Recommended Posts

You'd be hard pressed to get anything against the owners - as in most states you don't legally 'own' a cat like you own a dog.

What do you expect the people to do? Train the cat to not urinate? Have you ever owned a cat and tried to train them to do anything? It's close to impossible.

The best thing you can do is get make your property small animal proof by closing doors/windows etc.

Also, there are other small animals in this world - how can you be sure it was a cat that did this and not something else?

After Jaye gets her rig back, i'm gonna sneak into her garage and pee on her rig. I'm so evil.

LOL...yes, that would be evil. Bad, Sunny, bad!

The reason I asked that question is if she knows there are cats who wander in the neighborhood, then she shouldn't leave something so valuable in the garage with the door up. I know she has every right to do that on her own property, but try explaining that to the cat! My cat always goes in her little box, but when I bring my rig home unpacked, I still always put it in the spare bedroom with the door closed. I don't even give the cat the opportunity to misbehave.

Umm.. why was'nt the rig in a gear bag? Also storing the rig in a garage is'nt the best with winter and the moisture levels associated with it coming up. It should be stored in a dry, dark place. Bottom of a closet works great. If it is going to be stored in a garage it needs stored in a waterproof bag that won't let light through. Something like garbage bags work great.

My rig has it's very own rubbermaid tote. Anytime i have customers rigs they also get stored in a rubbermaid tote. I dont' think my cats would pee on my rig, but i won't take the chance. Cat urine is one of the ickiest smells ever.

I use rubbermaid bins for my gear too. No sense in taking chances with my 4 cats. One of them has a piss problem with our carpets and floor vents. I've yelled and chased the little prick around the house when catching him in the act, but it does no good. I've cut out and disposed of the worst smelling carpet and put covers on every vent, and keep the little bedroom door shut where I keep my stuff.

Eventually, I'm gonna rip all the carpet out and put in pergo or similar flooring. [:/]

Back in the day Someones dog pissed on my rig at the DZ. We washed the "piss" out of it but the rig became a target for every dog that ever came to the DZ. Put rig in car:)
Not sure if pergo will work for a pissed off cat or sunshine. We're slowly putting ceramic tile in the entire house. Due to the hounds toe nails. Dogs are easy to housebreak.

Now what can we do about humans that get really pissed off. Maybe lock them in SC, with their litter box.:S

R.I.P.

There is a natural enzyme product called "Naturals Miracle" that is specifically designed for cat urine smells. You can get it at any pet store. Works wonders and is pretty inexpensive, but I don't know how it works on all materials, so you'd have to ask the appropriate people.

Yes, the cat has been around my garage before, and I've done everything short of kicking it to get it back out. I hadn't realized that the cat got back in when I laid out my rig...should have checked my garage more thoroughly.

-That aside, if it hadn't been my rig, it may very well have been my inventory...which some of it is pricey as hell. I don't own pets because a.) I don't want them destroying things and b.) my kids are severely allergic. I have to make enough accomodations because my kids are special needs...you should see the mods we've had to do on the house...now I have to modify things for OTHER PEOPLE'S pets, too? I don't see why I am paying the price in terms of clean-up, prevention, and the like when I have EXPLICITLY banned animals from my house for the very same reasons.

So I'll chat with the owner of the black and white puss across the street that has a fascination with my place. And I'll take some further steps to keep my rig outta the way, but honestly, because of my sons, my options are limited; inside in a closet would be destroyed (And yeah we even have locks on the closet doors, however they have managed to open most of them still [:/]) -The attic I don't trust...mice might get into it. I might get some industrial hooks and hang it 6 feet up the wall.

Ohh... shit... there's a homeowners' association?!
Why didn't you say so?!

They've GOT to have bylaws about pets! Prove that someone's pet got onto your property and you got 'em by the short hairs!! :P

Yeah I'm digging through my files here to try to find the original Homeonwers Assoc. by-laws that we were given when we moved in 3 years ago...

A-HA!!!! I think we have a winner... Even if I come home late from the ole "Just one more jump!!!" syndrome and I end up with an unpacked rig, I can still put it in the rubber tote and keep it in the garage away from the boys and pesky critters.

Go with the 18gallon. That way if you have a gear bag, you can throw everything in the tote and fit the lid on nicely without smooshing anything. And the totes cost about $5 at walmart. Plus they do have tiny holes in the handles so you could lock it to keep your boys out. I've never had to lock mine, but you might wanna look into that. I know how exciting your gear must be to your boys.

No I expect people to keep their pet in their own yard. My sons are severly disabled and don't understand about property and such, but I don't throw my hands up and let them run rampant into other people's backyards and say "Well, what can I do? I can't train them to not go into your yard." If you can't be responsible for your animal, you shouldn't own one.

Then other people can make their properties Joey and Derick proof. -This is getting silly...

Cat urine unfortunately has an unmistakable odor...and ther aren't any other critters in our suburban neighborhood that could sneak in my garage and deposit that much urine onto my stuff. Unless it was a 3 foot long rat. ;):P

I tried packing in the living room twice...uh, yeah. The boys LOVE the feel of the ZP and unfortunately like to play with the lines, too. :S:P

They're so darned cute all rolled up in my Tri with these big happy grins but it's just not safe or even possible to get the freakin' thing in the bag with my two destruct-o boys around. :P:)

We've had to put Hav-A-Hart traps out to capture other people's cats after warning them that we wouldn't tolerate them coming into our property and tearing up stuff.
