Slappie 9 #1 November 15, 2004 I haven't seen Chuck in forever and I know he's probably feeling pretty bad at the moment. The company Chuck worked (he may still) for dumped the album rock format of a 34 year old radio station and switched to latino format. I'm not totaly sure if he's out of work or not. But I'm sure him and all the other DJs are gasping for air just as I am. Clear Channel Communication is the spawn of SATAN! The manglement are a bunch of DIRT BAGS! /rant over "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." Brains 2 #2 November 15, 2004 Man, they were talking about that station here on our rock morning show. One of the dj's here worked there for a while when they changed format here in San Antonio. They were saying how long that station has been a rock format station. Amazing Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
Rebecca 0 #3 November 15, 2004 UGH!!! I am right there with you, Slappie!! Those cheesedick bastards eliminated one of my favorite stations for yet ANOTHER latino format. Don't get me wrong, I love to salsa as much as the next gringa, but to push my pre-set button during morning rush, expecting Walton and Johnson, only to hear that... well, I nearly ran off the road in dismay. Chuck, hope you're doing OK. Clear Channel sucks. And they're whores. Money-grubbing whores. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk? flyingferret 0 #4 November 15, 2004 Clear Channel is doing that everywhere, totally restructing DFW market in the last few years. Honestly, it is what all the little brats get for listening to corporate radio. Find a station like 93.3 the bone...independantally owned, and stream it. http://www.933thebone.com/ http://www.jackontheweb.com/ Both independantly owned, so listen to them and screw corp. radio. Oh, and listen to Tom Petty - The Last DJ. The current corp takeover really is sad/disgusting.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. Slappie 9 #5 November 15, 2004 Well I know for certain that they fired Walton & Johnson. They are not on the air on any of the affiliates that used to network to. I just got an email from Walton saying they would trully apreciate any help the Houston fans could show for them. He suggested emailing and contacting Cox & Infinity broadcasting in Houston. They both own stations in the Houston market. This change caught them so far off guard. He says no one in the office knew it was coming, not even the program director Steve Fix. The "suits" showed up Friday morning and made the switch at 10am. I am so pissed. flyingferret 0 #6 November 15, 2004 Yep...same thing happened at the Eagle in Dallas. Midmorning fire everyone. And now the station is "Sunny 70s" and currently ALL Christmas music. Of course personally, if I want talk, I flip to AM and go political, so it is mostly the music for me. And I find it elsewhere. But I do see what you mean.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
Rebecca 0 #7 November 15, 2004 Those guys are so talented, I can't believe they would just be dropped like that. It's not like they were some underground cult thing - they have a HUGE fan base here. It doesn't make any sense. Isn't there an anti-monopoly rule against owning too many radio stations in the US? I can't listen to anything mainstream that's NOT owned by Clear Channel in Houston. Those whores. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

No one company could own more then 2 radio stations in the same market. The FCC changed this rule a few years back so now you've got monopolies in all the major markets. Just heard Wendy Miller (noontime dj from klol) on The Buzz.. so maybe some more were spared the ax. I do know W&J are off the air. Dunno about Outlaw Dave and Chuck.. Chuck was just starting to get awesome air time during the Outlaw Dave show too.. PhreeZone 20 #9 November 15, 2004 >Isn't there an anti-monopoly rule against owning too many radio stations in the US? Its media outlets. And yes, but that number was just upped in the last 2-3 years if I remember right. They are only allowed so much media satutation, but ClearChannel also owns most the billboards around, a lot of the bus advertising and things like that. They consider any radio station to have the same market as their mega stations. So if there are 10 radio stations each is considered to get 10% of the market even though everyone knows damn well that the classical music station might get 1-2% max. brits17 0 #10 November 15, 2004 I was in for a surprise too, when I turned it to KLOL for my daily 4:20 break only to listen to the mariachi band. Bummer. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

I can picture that surprise! I will admit I lost faith in KLOL a long time ago and I think this has been coming for some time. The music line-up has been going down for the last couple of years adn the station has not been the same since the S+P bomb......maybe their lawsuit has something to do with it as well. I hope we get a better rock station with better programming. Austin, SA and even El Paso have multiple rock stations that kick ass........why not Houston? freakyrat 1 #13 November 16, 2004 Hey Ferret are Jagger and Julie still doing The Morning Edge on the KDGE or have the Clear Channel Nazis screwed up another radio station? I know there are an awful lot of spanish speaking stations on the dial in Dallas to cause every time I visit Dallas I have a hard time finding my favorite stations and one of thos stations was KEGL the Eagle. Boy they screwed that one up to. The last time I was in the Orlando, FL area they had radio stations that played just about any format you could think of including one station that played Techno all day from mix artists like Oakenfold, John Digweed, Paul Van Dyk and others. I suppose the Clear Channel Nazis have screwed up that market to. Oh well, time to get Sirius about firing these greedy radio nazis and get Sirius or XM. INSANEDADDY 0 #14 November 16, 2004 Eddie the "Boner" Sanchez from the Stevens & Pruett morning show is selling houses in my neighborhood. He is a white guy and looks nothing like the voice. He stops by when he is locking up the model homes and drinks a few beers in the drive way. After a few beers he will do the Boner voice. He was telling me about how after the government deregulated radio broadcast, QUEER channel started buying up radio stations like mad. He said he went to Dallas for a while and then eventually got bought again by QUEER channel. Now he is selling houses and doing pretty good. I grew up on KLOL. I feel honored to be able to hang and drink beer with and X radio god. I will always be a 101 Groove Dog....... You dont't get to choose how you're going to die. I remember about a month ago them making a joke about how they outta learn some spanish for the new format. I thought they were just kidding around so I didn't think anything of it. But anyway, I was fairly bummed when I went to lunch and heard this latino "stuff". During my morning drive to work it was W&J, and lunch, mariachi. Truly a shitty situation for Houston radio. I can't believe they canned Rock 101. I've been listening to it since high school. Just plain sucks. Satellite radio is looking a little more attractive now. freakyrat 1 #16 November 16, 2004 I saw Eddie at Mardis Gras in New Orleans long time ago. There is one radio persoanality the radio nazis at Clear Channel haven't silenced yet. He must be "The Last DJ" It's former WLS Chicago DJ from the olden days Dick Biondi. He still does an Oldies show from Navy Pier on Saturday Nights for a Classic Rock station. The guy must be 80 or so. Getting back to KLOL. I remember the "Metal Head" days of Crash and Col St. James. Hasn't Houston got enough Hispanic stations and can't the nazis at Clear Channel give us a variety of stations to choose from? Chris
flyingferret 0 #17 November 16, 2004 Yep, Jagger and Julie are still on the 'college' morning show...you know...they one that starts and 9 and goes to noon I don't listen much, as the edge has really departed from what I remember it as in high school and college. The playlist is as repetitive as anyone else. But I think the format sells. Personally, I think Clear Channel is aiming totally for the trendy demographic. KDGE catches that, and KEGL didn't. As a result though, the Bone's listener's have gone way up. At least somone understands that not all 20-somethings want to hear eminem over and over.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
