AggieDave 6 #1 November 17, 2004 Would you consider calling out a post/poster a troll a personal attack? Lets say its a new account, or an account with no info in it and the information posted was controversial and seemingly posted to start a very heated arguement? Just curious what yall thought.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

AggieDave 6 #4 November 17, 2004 Damn, if I am a troll, that means I've got to take all the information out of my account so I'm "anonymous" since no one would know who I was if I took the info out.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Sure, in the "official sense" but I was wondering what the people who post on DZ.com thought about it. I know that "this aint no damn democracy" and no matter what we think, the greenies and HH will do what they want, but I was curious what other folks thought.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Rebecca 0 #10 November 17, 2004 If no one here can vouch for them, and they're just slinking around stirring up scheisse, then no, I have absolutely no problem with anyone calling out a troll. Just as long as you're SURE it's a troll. I'd feel bad if I was just a newbie trying to play with the big kids and I got slammed. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk? mr2mk1g 10 #11 November 17, 2004 IMO no, but of course my opinion doesn't count for anything here (as it shouldn't). Sangiro is the only one who knows exactly what he meant when he wrote his rules. It would appear there is a difference of opinion as to how his rules should be interpreted on this subject. I look forward to clarification on the point and will of course abide by whatever rules are to be enforced, but I don’t agree that this is what the rules currently mandate. Duckwater 0 #17 November 17, 2004 Is calling you an Aggie a personal attack? It sure would be if you we a T-sipper. Mike ---
billvon 3,120 #18 November 17, 2004 > Would you consider calling out a post/poster a troll a personal attack? Yes. 1) If you do see someone you think is a troll, a PM to a mod will let them take a look and potentially delete it. 2) Replying to them, saying "TROLL!" just encourages them (if they are a troll) and accomplishes their objective i.e. making lots of noise and keeping the thread alive. If it's not a troll it just pisses the poster off. 3) Things that anger people are not neccessarily trolls. A "racers suck" thread might seem like a troll to some, but might also contain some valid reasons that the poster _does_ think racers are dangerous or hard to packm - and that may well be appropriate in one of the forums here. mardigrasbob 0 #20 November 17, 2004 Trolls are so misunderstood. They are socially matriarchal, and generally do not bother with civilized niceties even in their largest societies. Trolls are not as gregarious as humans, and lone trolls or small family hunting groups are common. Troll villages are ramshackle and small. So. Do not disciminate! --------

Mike, according to the forum rules, anyone can call you a troll anyway... QuoteThe Forum Rules: 1. No personal attacks (unless it is Mike Skaggs that you are attacking). CanuckInUSA 0 #22 November 17, 2004 I'm guessing I know what motivated this thread. A certain conversation in "Speakers Corner" after someone called someone else a Troll and then a Greenie came along and warned the person about the "Troll" personal attack comment. Anyway, to me personal attacks in the 'Speakers Corner" is like holding is to football. In football holding occurs on virtually every play and it's up to the referee's discretion to either call it or let it go. Likewise, personal attacks occur in one form or another on virtually every post inside of the "Speakers Corner" and it's up to the Greenie's discretion as to whether or not they choose to let it go. In the end, it's been said before, but it needs to be said again. Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics. Even if you win (especially in the Speakers Corner), you're still retarted. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
