Duckwater 0 #1 November 17, 2004 I just got a iBook G4....How in the hell do you: 1. Select All (CTRL+A in Windows) 2. Copy (CTRL+C in Windows) 3. Paste (Ctrl+V in Windows) Mike --
AggieDave 6 #2 November 17, 2004 Easy, sell it and get a Dell laptop, then its Ctrl A, Ctrl C and Ctrl V. Or on the mac it should be the same letters but using the squiggly apple key right about where Alt would be on a PC.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Unstable 9 #3 November 17, 2004 CONGRATULATIONS and CASE OF BEER on your new Mac - Welcome to the Dark Side!! I hope this helps!! Select all = (apple thing)a Copy = (apple thing) C Paste = (apple thing) v By 'Apple Thing', I mean the Command key with an Apple one the Left-hand side and a Clover-thing on the Right hand side. One neat thing about an Apple is you Can customize your own shortcuts for these commands, but here are a few Key ones that come ready-to-use on your iBook. I use these ALL the time.. Close Current Window = (apple thing) w Close Program = (apple thing) q Give me a Holla if you have any questions!!=========Shaun ==========

Ya Know, I grew up using Macs, and that is What I own. But for the life of me, I can't think of the name for that little squiggly apple key is called - is it the "command key?" Sheesh, I SHOULD know this!!!=========Shaun ==========
Frenchy68 0 #6 November 17, 2004 Don't listen to the AD dude... 1/ Command ("apple" key & "a") 2/ "Apple key" "c" 3/ "Apple key" "v" Nick "For once you have tasted Absinthe you will walk the earth with your eyes turned towards the gutter, for there you have been and there you will long to return." AggieDave 6 #9 November 17, 2004 Yeah, its the command key. The first computer "I owned" was a brand spanking new Apple II Gs (I was 6 when it was given to me). After that I went with PC until I was working at an ISP when I was 16. No one used our Mac, and the only guy that knew the tech support got fired, so I took it upon myself to unfuck the Mac (the guy really screwed it up when he left...he was a *little* upset) and learn it as well as I could. I learned it inside and out, became the Mac guru for Internet Texoma and I tell you what, the more I learned and the more I used a Mac, the more I hated Macs. IMO they're worthless for anything besides wannabe multimedia editors...since the hard-core folks use must more powerful systems then a Mac. I did make the Mac worthwhile towards the end of my stay with Internet Texoma. I formated it and put linux on it. Then it actually worked well and was user friendly. In the Mac OS, its a bitch to actually get it to do what you want it to do since it tries so hard to make everything easy...it makes life much harder.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Frenchy68 0 #12 November 17, 2004 Good point. Mac was worthless until about 5 years ago... Since then... Having a PC = having AOL as an ISP!!! AggieDave 6 #15 November 17, 2004 QuoteMaybe it's also a lot of what kind of work you do and what you are surrounded by. That has a lot to do with it. Macs have a definite culture around them, if this was in SC I'd go into more detail on my opinions of the matter, but I'll leave it be for now. If you're in academia, you probably use a Mac, its all about the culture, for example.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Unstable 9 #16 November 17, 2004 QuoteIf you're in academia, you probably use a Mac, its all about the culture, for example. Here I definatly notice a trend with them at KState. Technical Majors use Linux almost exclusivly, and most liberal arts or Rhetoric students use Mac's almost excclusivly. I'm kinda the oddball using my Mac for Stats..=========Shaun ==========

QuoteIf you're in academia, you probably use a Mac, its all about the culture, for example I don't quite agree with that statement. I think it depends on what you expect from our computer. I have been recommending PCs to friends. And sometimes, I have recommended MACs. It comes down with the kind of usage you're going to have with it.
