The riddle thread

A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50."

The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less.

In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

He asked his weight, then wrote it. It never said he had to guess.

no because he only shaves those who dont shave themself...

But if he only shaves those that don't shave themselves, how can he shave himself?

THIS is a paradox.

There are two plastic jugs filled with water. How could you put all of this water into a barrel, without using the jugs or any dividers, and still tell which water came from which jug?

That's not a paradox either. You said he only shaves those who don't shave themselves. So, no, he doesn't shave himself. That doesn't invalidate the original statement.

Still not a paradox. He gets someone else to shave him. Just because he doesn't shave himself doesn't mean he HAS to shave himself.

Or of course he could be lying:P

OK, Fine. Try this one:

The following sentence is false. The preceding sentence is true. Are these sentences true or false?

You were so so so close with this one, Jim. You just had to leave off that last interrogative. Because the answer to the question that you pose is answerable. The answer is NO. :P
