kallend 2,146 #1 November 19, 2004 ..to have been born after the '60s (200 of the best 500 rock songs of all time were from the '60s, and another 140+ from the '70s). www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/11/17/entertainment/main656240.shtml You young folks just have to put up with our music being the best.... justaflygirl 0 #4 November 19, 2004 I was born in 74, but I have, thanks to my Dad a very well rounded taste in music, and there are groups and songs dating clear back to the 30's that I love. To me, what I like musically, is actually a part of "who I am"...
Dougiefresh 0 #5 November 19, 2004 I accepted that a long time ago. My dad wandering into my room and saying, "Hey, that's OUR music" didn't even dissuade me, I just cranked the Jimi louder. Nothing holds a candle to anything from '68-'69.Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. --Douglas Adams
gjhdiver 0 #6 November 19, 2004 Quote Didn't notice Motorhead on the list, Gareth. This is true, but then, I didn't really expect them to be there. No one really ever accuses my musical tastes as being either classic or tasteful. I think a few of my other are on there though. I do have a quiet side though. XTC are probably one of my favorite ever bands.
lawrocket 3 #7 November 19, 2004 Not rough at all. I gave up listening to crap music in the 4th grade. All 3 of my friends thought I was weird for digging on Zeppelin, the Beatles and the Who back when "No Parking on the Dance Floor" was the mst important song of the week. Yes, your era DID have the best music. My wife is hotter than your wife.
PhillyKev 0 #8 November 19, 2004 That poll was intentionally skewed. Not that I don't disagree...but the fusion of metal, rock, rap that came about in the 90's is pretty damn good, too. Casurf1978 0 #9 November 19, 2004 QuoteYes, your era DID have the best music. It did, but also remember the mid to late 1950's: Jerry Lee Lewis, Chubby Checker, Elvis, Fats Domino, Bo Diddly, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly. These musicians and others are the fathers of Rock and Roll. The 60's kicked ass, but w/o people like those mentioned the 60's would've sounded very different. I went to high school with one of the Stones (Wyman), and Pink Floyd was our local garage band when I was in grad school. That was before they became famous.
