flyingferret 0 #28 November 15, 2004 Sometimes finding good places takes some effort. Most 'good' places don't have much of a sign. Although, I admit, in Chicago it is easy to turn around and bump into one. That is one thing I love about Texas. Although everyone thinks we are hicks, if you know where to look you can find everything from great barbecue to awesome Thai, to killer sushi, and all devoid of yuppie scum. I have eaten at a lot of places in Dallas, that did not have english on the menu. My vietnamese buddy said "If you act white, I will never bring you here again" So, maybe you just need to find the right guide to some good grub. Heck, maybe even one of the cheeseballs knows? As for the office, I feel you, sounds like office space. Best advice, memorize the movie, quote it a lot, and laugh. March 05, dang, that is some two weeks, I hope they don't get pissy and fire you before then. Editted to add: Crap, I just looked on the map. You are only 20 miles out. We drive that far to piss in Texas. Just get cruise on it for some good food.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
Rebecca 0 #29 November 15, 2004 QuoteQuoteFood? Not so much. Wings? Oh hell yeah! Hooter's wings are among the worst I've ever had. Their food in general is shitty and overpriced. Alrighty then! The Hooters on the riverwalk in San Antonio does really good business. The military bases bus their folks downtown on weekends, and that's usually one of the places young male recruits head first. I was there one summer some buddies of mine were going through the PJ/CCT indoc course at Lackland. Got more than one call to pick their drunk asses up after they missed the return bus. Ever seen five big muscled guys and a little lady fit into a Chevette? It's like a circus clown car. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk? RevJim 0 #30 November 15, 2004 QuoteQuoteHey rev, screw those facists, come jump with us and we can go to Hooters all you want, i live less than 5 miles from one. More importantly, Aggieland is 10 minutes from Northgate bars (more 18-25yr old eye candy then you can shake a VD at) Nah, got plenty of that right here on campus. tigra 0 #32 November 15, 2004 There actually are good restaurants in the northern suburbs but where you are (if I remember correctly) there are 3 shopping malls close by, so if you take the major roads, you'll see the Olive Garden, Chilis, etc. first. And, yes, you're definitely more limited out there and you pretty much have to drive where ever you go, which sucks. Is there a Dominicks or Jewel nearby? The Dominicks stores have great salad bars and serve stuff like sushi. Most of them have a lunch area and serve a variety of hot entrees, too. Most of the Jewel stores are doing something similar. When I was working in the burbs, Dominicks was a life saver! I don't envy your commute, thats for sure!

I am never doing less than 5 things at once these days...one window on dropzone, and a dozen other's on other projects. If it is really one day a week, that rocks! Due to a city ordinance about orange and white signs in College Station, we don't have a Hooters...I don't see why they couldn't have a maroon and white Hooter's sign here. Well, that settles it. I'll visit, but I'll never move to college Station. How dare they ban Hooters (even if only by proxy). The Gold Coast Skydivers in Moss Point, Mississippi have got it good. They do their beach jumps in Biloxi Beach at the Hooters restaurant. The girls seem to love it... ChasingBlueSky 0 #48 November 15, 2004 Quote That said, I've also spent a huge amount of time working in the 'burbs. I've always been able to find interesting places, even in Schaumberg... Hoffman Estates, etc. I'm currently working in OakBrook. I was just transfered to Skokie two weeks ago (nothing like a 40 mile drive to work ) and enjoy being able to park my car for free...but there are almost no good lunch options in this part of town. If Evanston was closer I would be heaed there more often, but that only works for dinner.
