Vallerina 2 #1 November 15, 2004 I believe that's my new location. Imagine being stuck in the middle of upper-class white suburbia where the closest "good" restaurant is an Olive Garden, and parking is difficult to find because everyone double parks their Dodge Durangos. Phil and I sit in his cube watching others in our age bracket flirt awkwardly with one another. Yes, it was uncomfortable for everyone around to see the "stud" try to hit on the girl next to him by talking about the refrigerator and his lunch pack. The worst part was his cheesy laugh. It's all fake and phony here. I made the right decision when I told them that I will no longer work for them come March 2005. Is it here yet? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
Rebecca 0 #2 November 15, 2004 What is it with Olive Garden, Chili's, Red Lobster, and the like being the only "good" restaurants in white suburbia? Growing up in the midwest, Olive Garden was steppin' out. Makes me cringe now. Maybe I'm just spoiled here in Houston with so many truly amazing, authentic culinary options. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk? AggieDave 6 #6 November 15, 2004 QuoteMaybe I'm just spoiled here in Houston with so many truly amazing, authentic culinary options. You ain't kidding! I ate at Rancho Grande in Conroe yesterday...talk about really really damn good Mexican food. The margaritas were spot on as well. I'm glad no one double parked there, since it would have been a bitch. I parked my Z-71 between a slightly lifted '86 Suburban and a F-350 quad-cab...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." They even had restaurants with vegetarian options! And, WB, you know what I did to deserve this harsh treatment. AndyMan 7 #12 November 15, 2004 Where are you? I grew up and (and currently live) in the downtown of major cities. I LOVE the diversity that downtowns offer. That said, I've also spent a huge amount of time working in the 'burbs. I've always been able to find interesting places, even in Schaumberg... Hoffman Estates, etc. I'm currently working in OakBrook. The "worst" of suburban life usually contains the best parts of downtown. You just need to know where to look, and figure out how to manuever through the fields of SUV's and minivans to find it. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. Rebecca 0 #19 November 15, 2004 QuoteHooters really doesn't have good food. Food? Not so much. Wings? Oh hell yeah! All battered and drippy and messy and yummy. I'll concede that one, but I'm NOT saying it's a good restaurant. Remember the South Park where Butters falls in love with the Raisins girl, Lexus? Or was it Porsche? you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
