Things you are thankful for

Recommended Posts

I just spent the past hour fussing at a class of children who behave like they were raised in a barn by farm animals. The teacher who has the class after me called to see WHAT in the world was up with them. After discussion we concluded we had so many things to be thankful for...namely that none of those children have to go home with us every night.

That of course got me to thinking about things I am thankful for, so here is just a short list:

friends - many of whom are DZ.com friends. I don't know how I'd make it through any day without some of ya'll. Thank you to those who brighten my day with a PM and a smile.

family - my family is at least as messed up as the next one and more so than most, but I still love them.

health - for an old woman life has treat me quite well.

kids can behave in such a manner that you would want to kill them :S

back to your post: just today i was thinking about the same stuff. things i am thankfull for. for me it's kinda like the basic stuff

water from the tap that is not only drinkable but tastes real good

having a job that feeds me (plus enables my to jump out of planes on a regular base - but that i consider to be pure luxury)

being father to a wonderfull, grown-up son. he's just moved to his own appartement and he's on his way B|

You're in Georgia. The whole barn thing might be close to the truth:P:P

I can say that because all of my family is from Stephens County....we're the hick mountain Georgians.

Seriously, it's good to take stock regularly-I do believe that my precious wife gets a backrub this evening so that she'll know that I'm thankful for her.
I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

My family, friends, my health (can you believe that I've NEVER been in a hospital as a patient!)....and to be alive!:)
I'm so thankful for those I love and those who love me in return. Even those who are in my life for a short period of time, it was for a reason, and I am so grateful for that...and for those who are insane enough to stick with me for the long haul, I am ever so grateful for them as well.:)

My family: that even though I don't talk to them much, and have had problems in the past, they do love me unconditionally ......

My friends: fucking good times

The fact that I am still alive, and I realized at a pretty young age what it is to be alive, and that I want everything from it ...

The fact that I'm wise enough to see my shortcomings and know enough people to help me out, to make better everything I want to better at.

Women: for being a fucking confusing, but entertaining pain in the ass. because of them, i've felt the best i've ever felt in my life, and i've felt worse than you could ever imagine ..... i guess you can't appreciate heaven without experiencing hell first ....

Thanks for this thread, Lisa. I'm in the middle of my first exam period of law school and hating life, and this thread made me stop and consider that I have so many things to be thankful for, and that I shouldn't be freaking out over something that is really insignificant compared to the wonderful people and opportunities I have. Thanks for the wake-up call.

I am thankful for many things I have had an incredible year.
So many dreams, things I thought never possible have happened.

I am thankful for my friends. They are the best any one can ask for.

Life is good even when it's bad it's good.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

Anyone want a good laugh??????

149 people have viewed this thread and only like 12 people have posted things they are thankful for. Makes you really wonder about our society and that whole barn issue I raised earlier. I can't imagine not finding something to be thankful for every day.

I'll add to my list.

Relationshipspast, present, and future. I've learned alot from the past few that I hope I remember the lessons for a long time to come.

my youngest child who made me realize that life is really fun. And no there is nothing wrong with making "snow angels" in my down comforters.

And last for tonight...I learned to be thankful that I'm not the abused/neglected teenager who flew off with me so this afternoon. I learned that she has lived through hell the likes of which I can't even begin to imagine...Thankfully tomorrow will be another day for us both.

The 4 wheel drive in my avitar is sooooo covered with mud right now! since it was muddy, we went and had fun in the rain. the super swampers were throwing mud about 15' into the air! now, the cleanup. :( this truck is the same one built for, and appeared in "Varsity Blues" a Paramount picture.

actually a couple more than twelve if you consider the other Thanksgiving skydiving thread....

But I'm thankful for lurking... for watching over friends.... for being watched over by other friends.
Thankful for friends and family, both alive and seperated, both past and future.
Thankful for breathing, thinking, feeling... Thankful for this life and also the future ones....

Just found out my cousin, in the Army stationed in KY, will probably be visiting GA over the holidays. He found out today that he's in town for Thanksgiving, then going overseas for two or three weeks and then home for Christmas before he goes back overseas somewhere for an undetermined amount of time.

Really glad to maybe get the chance to hang out, but even more thankful that he'll be able to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas w/ his new wife and 6 mo. old daughter.
Killing threads since 2004.

* I am thankful for life. Life is day after day of new opportunity...both good and bad. The good is only better after having made it through the bad.

* I am thankful that this world has so much beauty in it. The sky, the ocean, the mountains, the lakes, the rocks, the stars, the earth itself...and most everything in it is extraordinary to behold. I am thankful that a few years ago, I was able to discover everything anew through my then puppy-dog's eyes. The years before that, I was discovering it through the eyes of children (as their teacher).

* I am thankful and amazed sometimes at what the human body and mind can do. I love watching others pushing their mental, physical, emotional limits. I hope that I can reach my goals and maybe even push beyond those within my life.

* I am also so thankful/grateful (feeling almost not worthy enough, at times) that I have so many beautiful people (family, friends, boyfriend...and my doggie, Chinook) in my life, who love me unconditionally. I hope that I have been able to give to them the love, respect, care and affection that they so deserve. No matter what life throws at me, my loved ones help to show me the path to happiness. There is nothing better than love.

# one on the list is my family: parents, siblings and their families, and my two beautiful daughters.

I am SO thankful for the Love of my Life.

I am thankful for all my friends.

I am thankful that I have been given the opportunity to learn to fly and skydive.

I am thankful for my health.

I am thankful for my job.

Honestly, the list is endless.
I am truly blessed and Thank God every day for all those blessings.
