AggieDave 6 #1 November 23, 2004 I'm frustrated. I've been trying to come up with a design for another tattoo for atleast 2 weeks now and I've got NOTHING. This is annoying, I haven't even seen any good flash to give me some ideas. I don't want any flash made tats, but wouldn't mind getting an idea for a new tat using flash as an idea, but I hate seeing stereotypical flash tattoos. You know, stuff like typical tribal art, japanese characters, etc.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
2fat2fly 0 #2 November 23, 2004 Go ahead, just go with Yosimite Sam Yeah, if choosing a tattoo is a tough decision, you probably shouldn't get one.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
upndownshop 0 #3 November 23, 2004 You could be cool like me and get the SkyFest logo like I did www.skyfestboogie.com That might even get you free registration for next year...... Yes work is slow, just sat through a 2 hour vigil presentation with Kim and the owners...pretty impressed.....with the product too
AggieDave 6 #4 November 23, 2004 QuoteYeah, if choosing a tattoo is a tough decision, you probably shouldn't get one. Its not that its a tough decision, its that I'm not a really creative person and I can't come up with anything. The 2 tats I have now I came up with and they mean something to me and I refuse to get flash art tats just to get a tat.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jumper03 0 #5 November 23, 2004 Then ask yourself - "why do I want this new tattoo" Then - "what reminds me of that?" That's what I'd do. JumpScars remind us that the past is real
MrJones 0 #6 November 23, 2004 Do some research, the tat's staying with you for a while so forget the trendy shit. I started with my family "Coat of arms" made some changes with the artist and walla, My name is not going anywhere "In ye old days before common usage of reading and writing(pre 1800's), people needed a means of identification- on the field of battle, to buy and sell land, pay taxes and to record births, deaths and marriages. Each family coat of arms was an icon, a pictorial form of the family name. A Family Coat of Arms was the name, the family, their history - the family coat of arms was all this and more." Do a search and you'll probably find a few variations. Good luck NUR ZUM SPASS

mnealtx 0 #8 November 23, 2004 I was planning a new tat several years back, would have been a face-on view of a white wolf on the back of my shoulder. I've since decided I want my next one (if I ever get another) to be something skydiving-related - I just haven't decided yet what it'll be.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. SkymonkeyONE 4 #12 November 23, 2004 A number of things about getting ink to consider: -you better have an idea before you walk into a studio. Getting some random tattoo "just because" is incredibly lame and you will regret it later. If it has no significance, then what's the point? Junky "kill 'em all, let god sort 'em out" tattos will get you laughed at later in life. -you ought never, ever go in, choose some junky flash, then wait for the next available artist. I would never consider letting anyone get near me with a machine if I had not first been impressed by what I saw in his/her book. For that matter, before you ever get anything done in any studio it is best to go by and check out all their books. If you like what you see in someone's book, then that is who you make an appointment with. Don't get your body smeared by some scratcher. -if you want the best, then be prepared to pay for the best (or trade for it). The best artists only get worked on by other "best" artists. If you like something you see in a magazine, then why not get work by the original artist? My right arm is done by Aaron Cain, the absolute master of bio-mechanical artwork. The best work is ALWAYS worth paying for. If you simply must stay local, but you want the same kind of stuff, then you had better look long and hard at the books of every artist you can visit. Don't trust a black and gray specialist to be able to do your seascape. Likewise, don't let the graffiti specialist do a portrait. Chuck
AggieDave 6 #13 November 23, 2004 I have an artist, he did my pumpkin tat, he became my artist because I was impressed by his work, he really impressed me with the pumpkin he did as well. So I've been talking to him, I've been giving him rough ideas and he's been giving ideas back, since I do NOT get flash art done and my tats actually mean something to me, I'm keeping it that way. I was just bitching because I've hit a road block, I have an idea, a theme, I want but I can't come up with anything concrete yet, if that makes sense. I've been searching all over the net for inspiration and I just can't get my feelings and thoughts to gel into a single piece of art.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." dorbie 0 #17 November 23, 2004 Quote........and I refuse to get flash art tats just to get a tat. But it seems you don't know what tat you want but you want something "just to get a tat" now. OK the art might mean something if you contrive another design that you have no firm idea about it yet so why another tat at all?
AggieDave 6 #18 November 23, 2004 I just don't have a firm idea on the art, I have a firm idea on the genre, the feel and vibe of the tat. So I've been going through design after design trying to get the idea, genre, feel and vibe just right.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." 12500ft 2 #19 November 23, 2004 I thought long and hard about my second tat. My first one is very meaningful to me and represents my life philosophies. Then, I started skydiving. I saw this necklace that had a Goddess with her hands in the sky and her feet on the ground. That is what I got. With a closing pin on either side. Even if I never jumped again (like that is going to happen) I will forever be part of two worlds. One at altitude and one down here. It seeemed appropriate. Don't know how to do clickies, sorry, but here's a picture of the image I have. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1523&item=5536382221&rd=1#ebayphotohosting

You know, stuff like typical tribal art, japanese characters, etc. You said "flash" like 19 times but I still don't know what you mean. I don't understand another thing: you seem eager to get a tattoo but don't know what kind of tattoo... I would have thought the desire for a tattoo would come from seeing one or imagining one that you wanted. What makes you want a tattoo absent having a design already in mind? -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" AggieDave 6 #22 November 24, 2004 Flash is the artwork you see on the walls at a tattoo shop, you point to the one you want and you get it. And as I've said more then once, I have an idea, a feel a vibe what I want, I'm just having troubles getting the design right. Its not an absence of design, its the inability to put a feeling into visual art.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." peacefuljeffrey 0 #23 November 24, 2004 Quotetattoo's suck. and when your older.. you'll look like shit... Wow! Scathing indictment of tattoos in general! When I was a kid, tattoos fascinated me, and I always wanted to have them when I got older. Then I got older, and have never gotten one, in large part because they seem like SUCH a FAD! Look, I know that some people wear them tastefully, and some of them are quite well done. But I have seen more hot girls RUIN themselves, DESECRATE beautiful bodies and smooth, clear skin with faddy, blase tattoos that make no statement or representation, they're just a "pretty design." Ugh. What a shame. I still would like a tattoo, but here's the thing: - I would never get a tattoo design that anyone, anywhere also had. I would have to design a unique one - I would never pay "some dude" to do something as personal and permanent as put ink under my skin, so any tattoo that I would ever get, I would have to put there myself (and I don't know how to do tattooing). If I ever learn how to do a simple, one-color, quality tattoo, I would consider it. So most likely I'll never have a tattoo. -Jeffrey-Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Zenister 0 #24 November 24, 2004 i've had several fixed ideas for tattoos for years.... still havent gotten any of them... every now and then i'll take them out and play with them, rearrange elements that better reflect my life now, but i still havent had the push to actually get inked..... the two i'm still currently 'stuck on' are shorn wing stubs with falling feathers (i think this one would cover the long scar on my hip nicely... and a bushido koan " the moon in the cold stream as a mirror..." a koan I contemplate often…. unfortunately i havent been able to find a copy of it that would transfer properly and not look like black scribble... the nuances of fine brush work dont translate well to skin art.. ps. 'Flash' in this context is means 'clip art'____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Right ankle is an anklet and is actually 2 tattoos in 1. Left ankle is the other easily visible one. There is one on my right shoulder so depending on my top, it may/may not be easily visible. However, the one on my upper left thigh isn't easily visible. Although pics are posted somewhere online of them all. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly!
