Evelyn 0 #26 November 28, 2004 For our second child my husband brought the video camera and shot very tastefully from the back and side. I had a very easy short labor so it looked pretty easy. My husband showed the video to everyone from our parents to the priest who baptised our daughter and everyone was surprised at how easy it looked. Friends have since had babies and were pissed off at me saying "you made it look so f--ing easy, it wasn't." All I could say was, "camera angels". LOL. freeflir29 0 #28 November 28, 2004 My son being born wasn't a really great experience. I was worried to DEATH. He was a month early cause the knuckle head liked to wrap one arm around his neck. Which occasionally pressed on his jugular.......which would slow down his heart rate. The Dr got worried that it was the umbilicle (SP?) and induced 4-5 weeks early. He went to sleep with his right arm under his chin for quite a while after he was born. The good part was that he came out fairly easily because he was a bit smaller than he would have been in another month. He flew out once the shoulders got by. Dr damned near dropped him. It just got worse when we went to the nursery. They had to poke and prod him with the vitamin K and the tests that they do. Here he is just minutes old and screaming his head off. I was about to have a heart attack!!!!! I knew he was OK though when after they poked him with the vitamin K he squeezed my hand with those TINY little fingers and he was plenty strong to turn the tips white from the normal reddish/purple color they were. I knew he had some fight in him. Over all though.......it was WAY stressful! Even writing this my chest is feeling tight again. I had one and I think I am done! Somebody else can HAVE all that stress!
Michele 1 #29 November 28, 2004 I got to watch my neice, Mayah Janele, being born, two days before my birthday. What an incredible, moving event. My brother had the video camera up high (he's 6'4", and had a better view...). I was watching my sister-in-law and the Dr., and then my brother bonked my head...and I looked up at the viewfinder. And saw this head, this baby, this life coming into the world, and tears dripped down my face. Then we saw that the cord was around her neck, but the Dr. got that handled quickly but then Mayah didn't feel like crying. She was fine, just doing things her way like her Noni (me). She opened her eyes, looked around, and shut her eyes again really fast. Dr. rubbed her a bit, and then they laid her on the table, and there she wailed a storm. 'Twas a miracle, that sweet soul coming into the world. And an honor for me to be present then. akarunway 1 #30 November 28, 2004 She said, "I can see the head coming out". I looked down to see a big turd coming out. I said "I can see he's gonna be a real shithead". LOL. True story. And he is -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- dont blame the kid -------------------------------------------------------------I don't. I blame his mother. My first wife. Actually outta the four kids I have he's turning out to be the most responsible. Or so he tells me. Cornholio 0 #31 November 28, 2004 QuoteStef, I'm pretty sure you're a great dad... edited to add : Cornholio, do you actually think looking at a birth on TV, even with closeups and details with surround sound on a wide screen is the same as assisting to a birth ?? If yes, I just did a couple of BASE and wingsuit jumps with Loic Jean Albert... Oh, on TV... With the Soul Flyers... Oh no, I'm sure it's definitely not the same. I was merely saying that I had never seen it before, and for the first time on the TV it wasn't that gross or disgusting as I had thought before. I'm sure that it's just the tip of the iceberg and there are so many more things involved like emotions, and atmosphere, location, people, etc... And you did say "assisting". So no, I don't thing watching and assisting are the same. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! Unstable 9 #32 November 28, 2004 I've seen it once or twice either in Middle School Health Class or through some other educational medium. I was truthfully grossed out when I first saw it, and I think that it put me off from dating for at least a year. I'll bet you that when I am watching my own children come into this world, It will be a beautiful thing - However, to watch someone ELSES offspring come into the world, well, I lose my appitite. What really struck me curious is the new thing that many mothers are electing to have done where the baby is born while the mother is in a pool of water. When I saw it, the mother had a kiddy pool about 3' deep set up in her living room. The mother and two midwives/doctors were in the pool with the mother. I wouldn't get in that water (unless it were my own wife..) for a million bucks...=========Shaun ==========

It makes sense that she did otherwise she wouldn't have been able to make fist, but it did surprise me at the time!
