frefol 0 #1 August 22, 2009 I bought a Mirage G4 harness and container in great condition. I have been jumping it, leg straps max'd out, chest strap close. It feels comfortable wearing, though I might like the container to sit a little higher on my back. When in the saddle, my chest strap rides high, sometimes near my neck. Can I have this adjusted by Mirage or did I just by a rig too large?? Would adjusting the MLW help?? It's a beautiful rig and I hope I can make it work. Thanks

As it's the HARNESS, not the container that does not fit. If you have a unysin harness, which means it has both chest and hip rings, it may be a real easy fix of just shortening your MLW and/or legstraps/pads. I suggest you contact Mirage or your local Master Rigger as your home DZ has a pretty damn good one. Blue Skies
frefol 0 #3 August 22, 2009 Thanks for the reply. The rigger at my DZ is great, and suggested I shorten the MLW. I just wasn't sure about the chest strap coming up so high. I hate to bother him, where as I bought it through DZ.com., so I thought I'd throw it out here for discussion. My plan is to take measurements and send it to Mirage after the season ends. I love my rig. Blue Skies

Even if you don't have an articulated harness, it's not that expensive to adjust. If i bought a used rig, the first thing I'd do is custom fit the harness by sending it in to the manufacturer. lilchief 1 #5 August 23, 2009 If you don't have hip and chest rings, I'd recommend you to have them installed. It's a "cheap" investment for these kind of jobs in the future(e.g. damaged MLW due to wear or one tarmac landing or if you ever need to get cut out of your harness after an injury) or in the long run. It'll also fit better for the next owner when you're selling it(= better price for the rig)"Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no

I hate to bother him, where as I bought it through DZ.com. Just so you know, most riggers are not gear dealers, and of those who are, 99% of the rigs they work on were not rigs they sold to the owner. It's not like a car dealership, a rigger is more like an independent mechanic, they'll work on anything you bring them (unless is not airworthy). Also, if you're not bothering him by bringing him work, you're employing him. As far as your harness goes, not all riggers are equipped to do a harness resize. It takes some specialized equipment to do the job. Often times it is best to send it to the manufacturer. Not only did they build the rig in the first place, but they have experience building harnesses every day and can incorporate the latest in features and construction techniques. It's well worth the price, and will make it feel like a brand new rig.
likestojump 3 #7 August 23, 2009 I echo everything that had been said. To re-iterate why I suggested his home DZ Master Rigger, is because he lists Pepperell where Don Mayer runs Parachute Shop which I personally consider a first class operation. freakyrat 1 #8 August 24, 2009 I have a Unisyn harness on my Mirage G4 and I had a MLW that was too short. I took it by them when I was in Florida. They cut the old pieces out and put longer ones in and I picked it up the next morning. Mirage would be more than happy to fix yours. Also Mike Gruwell at Chutingstar in Atlanta, Ga is a Master Rigger and a Mirage authorized service center and can also do the same work. Chris
