I did it good this time-

Recommended Posts

Rolled my ankle over on landing just as my full weight was transfering to my feet.
Three breaks (tib, fib and ?) close to the joint, some slightly displaced stuff and ligament damage. Two hours in surgery. One plate and eight screws total. Really interesting x-rays.

Ouch.

I also found out Morphine and Vicodin make me sick, itch like crazy and constipate me. I'm getting used to the pain now so Tylenol takes the edge off things well enough for me.

Being laid up sucks.

You're supposed to BE CAREFUL!!!

Well...since you boo boo'd yourself, take care of yourself, rest, and listen to the doc. Hugs, my friend.

Dude, you got one more screw than me!

Unlucky bro, injuries suck, don't know if this is your first injury like mine is? Believe me it's going to get really frustrating at times, just be strong, try to work through it and know that you'll get better! Plus now you can PW here more than ever :)
PS. i'm going to keep that chicks dig scars comment!

Thanks, man.
Last ime I had a major break was at age 8. I busted both bones in my right arm rollerskating.
Yeah, I'm frustrated as all hell right now. It's seems to be in a painful in all posistions mode, especially if I get up tp move around. I'm going to send my daughter out for a wireless thingy for my laptop so I can PW from the living room.

Feel free to use the Chicks Digs Scars - I stole it from some one else myself, so wtf!

Later folks!

Just had to bump this one back up -

Saw the sawbones on Friday and got the staples pulled out - My leg looked like it had an industrial-grade zipper installed on it. All but a few of the staples came out nicely. A few stung a bit - I'll have a nice 4 to 5 inch scar on the outside of my leg now.

I've got a new blue cast on my leg now and it's gonna be with me until the 22nd of December.

My leg is really beginning to atrophy like crazy. I fear gaining alot of weight in the interim.

Question is, what the hell can I do to counteract the effects of a highly sedentary convalescence?

Pain is temporary. Wounds heal. Chicks dig scars.

Honestly, just try to watch what you eat and don't eat just because you are bored! Easier said than done, I know! I actually lost a few pounds last year after my broken ankle even over the holidays. I tried to stick to a low carb diet as much as possible(works for me, no lectures, please!:)
Good luck and hang in there!

Thanks so much for the support - !

Right now my diet is fairly light, and low-carb also. I've been able to avoid eating out of boredom - (So I'm working on building up my PW skills -) and I'm drinking 3-4 glasses of lowfat milk each day along with a bottle or two of water. Can't return to work yet due to the nature of my job - (Industrial Mechanic-) But I'm begging my boss to find something desk-bound for me to do somewhere!!

My job is mostly a desk job, and my co-workers were pretty good about helping out too. Worked out OK for me- my immediate superviser lightened my load and my boss was impressed that I actually returned to work so soon. Work ethic? Actually, I would have been bored out of my skull at home, but I'll take credit for having a good "work ethic" instead!;)
