ScubaSteve 0 #1 November 30, 2004 I ALWAYS pay my toll. And have taken them for around 10 years. And for ten years the equiptment is always failing. So, I get a letter with 5 tollway violations amouting for only $20 each. I am steaming mad because I ALWAYS pay the damn toll. Anyone else have this problem in IL? flyangel2 2 #2 November 30, 2004 I was doing a road trip this summer through Illinois. I can't believe how they have the booths set up. I was very confused the first toll booth that I had to go through and ended up going through the one that is set up for people that have those little stickers on. The guy just waved me through. When I got to the next toll booth down the road, I almost went through the wrong side again. When I got up to the window, I told the lady that I had missed paying the last toll, 80 cents. She handed me an envelope and told me I had to pull over and fill out the information and put in my 80 cents and bring it back to her. I tried to just pay her there, but they wouldn't allow me. I was a good girl and paid my 80 cents, afterall, I wouldn't want the state of Illinois to go broke cause I missed paying them the 80 cents.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. ScubaSteve 0 #6 November 30, 2004 Who can we complain to? I scheduled a hearing but I an expecting my complaints to fall on deaf ears. I am extremely frustrated and expected to be robbed for the $101. I am never driving on the tollway again.

Well, if you haven't already paid the fees, then get $101 worth of dimes (I was gonna say pennies, but that's way too heavy to carry). Plead your case. If they turn you down, okay, "you want your $101? Here's your fucking $101!" and throw the dimes all over their floor... ChasingBlueSky 0 #9 November 30, 2004 It's well known the Tollway Authority does a piss poor job of running the roads in the area. The tolls were supposed to be temporary and removed years ago - now they are talking that the tolls will be at 80 cents if you don't have an IPASS in 2005. The IPASS is the best thing to get if you are a Chicagoland resident or need to travel the toll roads on a regular basis. This way if I go thru the tolls and it doesn't register, it won't be my fault since they have $40 sitting on my account, prepaid. Plus the toll will stay at 40 cents for the next five years with an IPASS._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... ScubaSteve 0 #10 November 30, 2004 I like that idea. The 101 dollars is not a problem for me. Its the principal, we are talking principalities here! It burns me that some "Big Brother" orginiaztion who has authority in their name can fleese somebody for 100 when they are short cash. I am going to try to be calm at the hearing and give them a chance to fix my problem. Its just beena bad month for me and government. I just got takes by my city gov. for 100 for parking in a snow route. New law made my street a snowroute on one side. On Nov 1 - Mar 1. I got a ticlet and there ware no signs posted. I went to city hall to complain and they said the signs were up. So i missesd a morning of work that cost me more than the fine. I stop home on way to work and see some city schmuck putting up the signs. Isnt IL great!!! thanks for letting me vent. I feel much more calm now. Back to work. AndyMan 7 #13 November 30, 2004 One of my coworkers was in a similar situation, but because of his driving habbits he was able to show faulty equipment. He argued that since his IPASS worked at tollgate 1 and 3, and was missing gate 2, it was most likely equipment failure at gate 2. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. eeneR 3 #14 November 30, 2004 Actually I get the impression that this has nothing to do with IPASS..is that correct Steve? I have an Ipass, and when I got my new van I not only forgot to change the plate info on the IPASS, but I didnt realize that the windshield in my van causes problems with IPASS...so I got a big fat letter with big fat fines. I called IPass and explained what happend, changed the plate over on the IPASS and then called the place handling the fee's, explained to them what happend...Then charged me for the tolls ONLY and dropped the Fee's. As long as your plate is registered to a unit they will just charge you for the tolls to that unit...and send you a letter. Unless that has changed in the last year. I had 10 illegal passes thru and Ipass lane where it wasnt registered. the fines were $200 for all 10 plus...$4 for the tolls. Once I got everything straightend out...I payed them $4.....She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
Cudlo 0 #15 November 30, 2004 Yeah, go with IPASS if ya like big brother My father works as a public defender in Cook County. He has seen cases where the defendants story of events had been descreditted by the ITA's log of his tollway activity (they didnt add the charge but they also showed with the time it took him to go from one booth to the next that he was going 100+ MPH)_________________________________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid." - Kierkegaard

ScubaSteve 0 #18 November 30, 2004 I have an ipass registed to my old car. The damn thing never worked right. 355 boughten does not have light indicators and I was getting warned about not paying. The dam thing was in the window every time and a call to ipass would fix it. I went back to the bucket in fear on the fines and i ALWAYS pay. I got hit a the Highland/355 toll for al 5 fines. Its 25 cents. I always pay and the damn red light almost never changes status. Its always green or always red. I am demanding maintence records and a "drawer count" of the toll for the dates in question. I am going to be very difficukt about the whole thing. Sabre2th 0 #19 November 30, 2004 You can also just get a holographic cover for your licence plate... I had one... I mean a friend of mine did. Works great. Whenever the camera takes a pic of your licence plate, it blocks out the letters. They look white on the pic (He) never paid the damn toll. Maybe that works different here in ATL. Nick. Don't drive through Pennsylvania. Ugh. You miss your ticket at The Penn Turnpike from those machines they don't care WHAT excuse you give... it's $24 bucks at the next toll when you get off. Now, PA FREEways are paved, nice and smooth. But the turnpike, which is the major east-west thruway in the state (and usually your only option most of the time between towns in the southern part of the state)... SUCKS ASS and and resembles San Antonio city streets! ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Fo shizzle.

It is illegal for them to hit you with a speeding ticket via the IPASS. This was a huge deal when it first came out and the State Troopers were all for it. However, invasion of privacy individuals went up against it and had the policy changed. What they can do is observe patterns of when you travel and have a trooper waiting at that tollboth at that time of day._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Those are illegal in this state. Having any cover over your plates is good enough to have you pulled over (they make it impossible for a laser speed gun to get a good reading off of you since that is where they aim). Even those license plate holders (like the 800-skydive ones) are illegal sine they impede with proper display...this is something I was informed about in traffic school and verified by a state trooper friend of mine._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
