tigra 0 #1 December 2, 2004 Hey, once again I wanted to thank people for posting to the spyware thread and making suggestions! With so many reccommendations, I ran Spysweeper the other night, had to do it twice to catch a few stragglers, and since it took so long for everything, I waited until I got home last night to boot up my 'puter and give it a test run! Still takes a while to get started and online, but I could "surf", send emails and open up my programs! No pop ups! Yippee! I'm now a satisfied Spysweeper customer and I guess I owe them some money! Sometimes you guys come up with some really good advice. Next time I cut off a limb or something, I'm coming here first!
cloudseeker2001 0 #2 December 2, 2004 did you get it free and if you did, add a link! "Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance, others mean and rueful of the western dream"
tigra 0 #3 December 2, 2004 I opted for the 30 day free trial- I wasn't going to pay unless it worked! Its $29.95 but IF you do a google search you can find it for $19.95. I found it on there at that price. It found and eliminated way more than Norton and Spybot did and got my computer functioning again!
flyangel2 2 #4 December 2, 2004 I have found having a low stress level when having to deal with pop ups or spyware on the computer is well worth the money spent to get the program. Besides, there are updates that you get when you subscribe that you don't get on the trial. I update my Spysweeter at least every other day, and I'm shocked at the number of updates that get sent to my computer.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. tigra 0 #5 December 2, 2004 I agree. I have no problem paying for it now that I know it works. Maybe since they actually get paid for this, they have more/ better resources to stay on top of all this crap. (Of course I paid for Norton too, but I guess they specialize in viruses, not spyware......) In principle, I HATE that I have to pay for software to protect my computer from crap that shouldn't be out there to begin with, but then again, I don't like to paying into social security that probably won't be around when I need it either! Guess its all a part of life! ......sigh.....

My sons tease around and say that the companies that sell the spyware stuff are the ones that make the crap up. tigra 0 #7 December 2, 2004 I think your sons are right, but what can you do? I LOVE my computer, I've become very dependent on it and I'm not happy when I can't use it! (And of course I'm on the wrong side of 30 and was never taught this stuff in school, so I have to learn as I go along!) One of my friends suggested I call one of those services that makes housecalls and I told her I couldn't bear the thought of some kid my nephew's age fixing my computer all the while rolling his eyes, and making fun of how lame I was!
