dropdeded 0 #1 December 3, 2004 Do you procrastinate??? Im finally removing my head from my ass and getting some stuff checked out (I looked around while in there, didnt see nuthin). Kinda one of those "dont wanna know" things, but what the hell. So, like most people, I insist that my loved ones get answers when somethings wrong, but when it comes to my own health, its never been a big concern. Somehow I dont think Im alone here. dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
Shotgun 1 #2 December 3, 2004 Yes, I am bad... I pretty much have to be dying to go to the doctor. I was a somewhat sickly kid though, so I think I spent more than my fair share of time at doctors' offices, which didn't seem to help much... so that's probably why I now avoid them as much as possible. dropdeded 0 #3 December 3, 2004 Yeah, makes sense. I spend a lot of time in ER's and hospitals for work and a LOT of the stuff I see, "I dont think I could do that" dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
JustaBill 0 #4 December 3, 2004 I'm terrible at going to the doctor. I have to be almost dead, or at least wishing I was before I'll go. Matter of fact last time I went my wife had to drive because I let it go long enough that I was too sick to drive ------------------------------------------------ I've done so much, with so little, for so long I'm now expected to do everything with nothing forever
ladyskydiver 0 #5 December 3, 2004 When it comes to my health, yeah...I've got to be just shy of my death bed to actually go in. When it comes to someone I care about, I'm the first to try and get them to go to the doctor and take care of themselves. But...those that I do that to are more than happy to return the favor when I don't want to go to the doctor. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Dumpster 0 #6 December 3, 2004 I too am reluctant to go see the doc - I usually don't get very sick as far as colds and stuff go, and when I do I prefer to try to let my body fight it off rather that run to the sawbones at the first sniffle. My theory is let your immune system do it's job, and over time it gets stronger. I have a sister who must run to the doctor at least once a month, and is always telling me about all these great new pills out on the market- Jeez! Now, when I heard that popping sound coming from my ankle when I was landing a couple weeks ago - That was a different story. Nineteen days till the cast comes off! WooHoo! quatorze 1 #7 December 3, 2004 me, I feel that being healthy is the just dying the slowest possible way, of course this from a man who carried a broken elbow around for a week in junior high and a ruptured appendix around for 3 1/2 days before seeking medical treatment. Maybe I just have too high a tolerance for pain I'm not afriad of dying, I'm afraid of never really living- Erin Engle

Red dress won out. I've even gotten "girly" and gave myself a manicure and pedicure to match. Sorry for the hijack.Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! wmw999 2,593 #9 December 3, 2004 Sweetie, go to the doctor. The worst thing that can happen is that you will have made something worse by procrastinating. So the more procrastinating you do, the worse you make it. I procrastinate about just about everything else. Only go to the doctor 1-2 per year, but when it's time, it's time. I even get physicals. hexadecimal 0 #10 December 3, 2004 I got fed up with doctors when I went through 6 months of constant tests only for them to tell me at the end of it all "we don't know what's wrong with you.". This all started when I was getting dizzy spells and went to a doctor for them. She looked at my eyes for a bit, asked about my symptoms, and immediately told me "well... it could be a brain tumor". Since then, I haven't been to another doctor.
mouth 0 #11 December 3, 2004 Yes, Wendy even talked me into going. I didn't like what I heard, but hey that's life and now hopefully I'll be able to deal with what is happening inside my body. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. Bolas 5 #12 December 3, 2004 I only go when I pretty much know what I need. If I get poison ivy real bad, I know I need prednezone to kill it. If I road rash myself, I know I need a tetanus shot if it's been a while. I really oughta go in for a checkup now I'm 30, but haven't done it yet. dropdeded 0 #13 December 3, 2004 ok, just got back from a gastrosomethinorother doc, he's gonna "scope" me next week (down the throat thank god). Doin the chest x-ray, blood work, in a couple days. Shits been goin on for like, 7 years so WTF, no time like the present eh Im not one to do the doctor thing either, never have but 30 years of chain smoking, 20 years of slingin hot tar, suckin up tile dust and tearing off old, possibly asbestos saturated roofs can have damaging effects Geez, maybe I DONT wanna know. dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
Stacy 0 #14 December 3, 2004 I get a full physical annually. I hate it , but two years ago my doc found precancerous cells that, had they not been taken care of at that time, would have turned bad. I don't tend to go if I feel sick. I HATE when people go to the ER for every little thing. This caused me to once walk around with a ruptured appendix for 2 weeks, so now I know to pay more attention to myself.
