windcatcher 0 #2 December 3, 2004 cuute! Thanks for sharing! We had a few baby squirrels fall out of our tree once, and I kept em warm in my dad's old fur hat. Mother to the cutest little thing in the world...
WFFC 1 #3 December 3, 2004 I couldn't find my zoom lens, but one of the neighborhood tomcats found a field mouse in the back yard. He played (read:tortured) it for several hours until he disappeared with it.----- ~~~Michael
antifnsocial 0 #4 December 3, 2004 We have mutant man eating monster squirrels at my house in Phila. area. They mug people. They rob them and threaten them too. They come right up on your step and they yell at you. They are very scary. I once saw one carry a whole loaf of great harvest's lo-carb bread straight up a tree with one paw over it's little fat head. I think we have a squirrel mafia in our town. Your squirrel is so much cuter. They are so cute and sweet. My experiences with Phila. squirrels have made me predjudiced I think. Please feel free to reply to my posts and pm's, but only if you're smart enough to understand what they really mean.
mailin 0 #5 December 3, 2004 Must be something about city areas. The squirrels in Providence are similar. I've never seen one sit on the hood of your car while you start your car and then try to play with your windshield wipers, while they're on! smiles 0 #7 December 3, 2004 I feed the blue jays peanuts every day- they back off when the squirrels are around though, like the squirrels have rule over them? It is odd to see baby squirrels in Dec. here, the older ones are either black or grey- babies are brown?? SMiles

ahegeman 0 #10 December 3, 2004 Well, that's me in the picture, with my bird Jazz, and a rabbit he just caught, so it would appear that I am.--------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry
christelsabine 1 #11 December 4, 2004 OK, you are a falconer. What kind of bird is it? Seems to be quite young. Anyhow not a falcon. What is it? Correct me, if I'm wrong. Thx dudeist skydiver # 3105

Thx Well done, you are correct on both counts. He's not a falcon, he's a red-tailed hawk - a very common bird over here in the States. And yes, he was young when that picture was taken, still in his immature plumage. He's almost a year older now. Here's a more recent picture. jakee 1,564 #13 December 4, 2004 Falconry is wicked, I'd love to get involved in it sometime. And that is a stunning photo of Jazz, no wonder it was the sport of kingsDo you want to have an ideagasm?
christelsabine 1 #14 December 4, 2004 No. Don't take me wrong. I am a hunter. I am a fisherman. I am a falconer. That's quite rare regarding women. I do not mind. It took so many years learning all on that. Especially on birds. Just to have a look on that bird in your pic shows me what you did. That bird did not hunt that animal. That bird is much too young. In my country, you would not be allowed to own falcons. You are not a falconer. That's just a fake. dudeist skydiver # 3105

You presume quite a bit. I assure you that is not a fake. Why is that so difficult for you to believe? As a falconer, you should know that every raptor fledges at between about 4-8 weeks of age and is fully capable of hunting on its own at that point. What makes you think Jazz is less than 6 weeks old in that picture? He's certainly not downy. In my country I am not allowed to own a falcon either. The state owns them, I merely have a license to possess him, so I guess you are right about that.--------------------------------------------------------------- There is a fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'. --Dave Barry
