Whatchu pay for your Christmas Tree? Happy story here!

Recommended Posts

So I go out and my daughter picks out a 8 foot Douglas Fir or whatever. None of us can do better so we get it.

Sign says 8 footers are $79 bucks. I'm ready to chisel when I get to the front of the line and the guy says $24.00.

I'm like, uh, OK!

Happy days and the house smells cool!

I have a nice little LIVE Douglas Fir in a pot that is about 3 ft tall now for inside.

Outside right in front of my picture window I have a 20ft Blue Spruce that I am hanging lights on...all blue ones...:)
Oh.. the little one free.. It came up from a seed from my neighbors 150 ft tall Dougie fir... and the other one.. the Blue Spruce was $35 back in 1992.

nice dude!!! we havn't had a real tree since i was single digits old. my mom and brother are alergic to them.

I did something like that but on a much smaller scale. went to sports authority to get some fishing line spooled up on my reel. The line costs $.02 a yard i had 93 yards of line.
The cashier was like "So thats one yard right?" I don't know how i didn't laugh in his face. but i got out of there with almost 2 bucks of line for 2 cents >:(

I actually got the chance to sell some christmas trees the other day, I was just doing it more or less just to do it. I must say you got one hell of a deal especially with the first offer ...depending on the type of tree i'd normally come down anywhere between 5-20 dollars.

I have a feeling Morgan and I won't start buying trees until we have kids old enough to know (2yrs on).

Don't underestimate your kids. They "know" from the get go!

Besides, the scrap book won't be complete without each years pic by the tree.

4 1/2' fake tree this year. We're more focused on getting out of this god forsake state than Christmas right now. Besides, whatever gifts we buy eachother we'll have to move so we're tossing the money towards a place in the mountains...soon...I'll be home...soon...
Sunny - do you want to know then the garage sale is?

We Love the look the feel and the aroma of a live tree and while the kids were younger,, sometimes went to the Tree farm and worked the saw,, in shifts,,, to cut one down....:)However about 15 years ago now,, I planted over 2,000 pine tree seedlings,,, ( bare root stock,, a bundle of FIFTY, can be held in one fist and looks like a pretty scrawny "bouquet"..[:/] ) .. on a parcel of land which we have owned now,, for a couple of decades...
... well anyway many of those trees never made it,,,
( drought,, wildlife ,,mowed over, cause they were so small....>:( )... but around 400 DID make it,,,they are now up to 20 feet TALL..... and some took and some didn't,, so they are widely spaced in some cases,,, and somewhat crowded,, in other cases.... Some sre still only 3 or 4 feet tall,,,, while those nearby have taken off and are 15 feet tall,
( go figure :S ).. so the last year or two,, i have been "thinning out" some of the more tightly packed clusters,, by Taking ONE tree only,,, usually a Norway spruce, in order to give the others a bit more breathing room...
Considering all the work it took to plant , grow, and tend the trees,,, especially in the early years,,, It IS hard to cut one down..... But there is also some satisfaction in having planted that tree,, with love and hope,, and care.... And now being able to bring the results of that effort onto our home ....in celebration..:)

...:)
Around here, ( unless you know jumpinfarmer ;) ) costs run right around 50 dollars,, give or take.
Many of the home center stores have them as well, and they can be less there....:|
only you never know just When they were cut down... ya' know???...
Often the local Churches or Boy Scout troops will sell them as well.... Each year we do think about a "non-real" tree,, since they are practical,, and nowadays they look very very authentic,,..plus we have the attic space to store it...
I think.. if not for the chance to take one of our own,,,, we would have likely gone that route by now... This jpeg shows what some of the Nicer trees look like..... (Austrian pine)....:o
( we just take a 7 or 8 footer and usually a spruce) ;);)...

I have to go fake cause my oldest is allergic to a real one. We trashed our entire tree last year except for a few special ornaments and started over. I bought the tree at 50% off last year and stored it. We put it up last w/e...OMG, it is huge and we are all three short. Video would have been hysterical to say the least, but we did have a good time. May have been the hot toddy I was having but I really had fun once I fought with the lights for two days.
