ChasingBlueSky 0 #1 December 7, 2004 Has anyone else noticed a lack of coverage about Pearl Harbor this year?_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... quade 4 #2 December 7, 2004 Yeah, a little sparce. My guess is that most people that would cover this are covering the current situation and its ramifications. Kinda hard to think too much about 60 year old history when you have battles going on right now.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #5 December 7, 2004 I don't think anyone is forgetting that the US can be attacked by surprise and I don't think the attack of 9/11 can be considered in the same light as that of 12/7. Pearl Harbor was attacked by a country. New York and Washington, D.C. were attacked by a terrorist group. It would be inaccurate to equate the two and the lessons learned from both are valid, but different.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
BillyVance 35 #6 December 7, 2004 There was something in the newspaper about efforts being made to honor the slain sailors and survivors of another battleship, of which name I can't remember right now. It was the same class as the Arizona, but it was re-floated after the attacks and sold for scrap, but it sank in the Pacific while being towed to the continental U.S. in 1943. The youngest survivor on that particular battleship is 80 years old now. jdhill 0 #8 December 7, 2004 I've seen a little piece on the news just about every hour... but it does seem lighter this year... I had an opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor a little over a month ago... oil still seeps up from the USS Arizona... a very solemn place.
