Remster 30 #1 December 7, 2004 So my office is expanding the workshops in the back, and I guess they had to shut off the heat with the hook things up. Doing this when it wasnt -8C (-18C with windchill) would have been a good idea... brrrrrrrrrrrrrRemster

christoofar 0 #14 December 8, 2004 Remster, Want the opposite problem? Things they don't tell you about living in Northeast highrises.... when it gets cold outside... say 66 degrees (brr ), the super kicks the boiler on so the apartments will have access to the radiator. So maybe one or two people open their valves on the lower floors. Fine. Then when the temp drops to 50, more people do it. Okay... Meanwhile, 20-30-40 floors up... all the excess heat from the bottom floors runs up the steel columns and to the roof... even if you have your radiator closed, you are running your A/C units and the windows open just to keep the temperature hovering around a nice 85F while it's 20F outside. Luckily my building's HVAC is partitioned and there's no boiler in here, but I still get residual warming from the apartments and the department store 10 floors below me. It got to 29 one night here in Philadelphia and I still had windows cracked to keep the temperature from rising over 73. I wonder when I'll really need to use my heater. Maybe never! ____________________________________________________________ I'm RICK JAMES! Fo shizzle.
