Rdutch 0 #1 December 10, 2004 Anyone know a good program to convert a DVD to AVi. I have Pinnacle and Roxio but both of them either wont do it or they suck at it. Anyone have any ideas? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

leroydb 0 #6 December 11, 2004 i believe if you find the .VOB file and copy it to your HD and chnage the extention to .mpg (hence mpeg) it should work.... but then it isn't an avi then....Leroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio... I don't think either one was more than $30 to buy.

LouDiamond 1 #14 December 12, 2004 Try Dr. Divx from the Divx website, it is pretty easy to use and should do what you want. MPEG 4 works great for getting a whole dvd down to CD size files. The haji's here are getting anywhere from 4 to 6 full length movies on one DVD."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

wee 0 #19 December 13, 2004 What OS are you running and how advanced are you? w/o sounding too nerdy, do you know what video card you have installed? I'm using windows xp and use their video editing software whenever possible (run into less problems) because what I do now is so minor. In the past I have tried and used several--- I think Easy DVD Creator was my fav (don't let the name fool you, it goes both ways)... it lives up to its name being user friendly, etc. However, if you're familiar with this stuff and don't mind looking at an ugly screen, TMPGEnc has the highest frame rate hands down. --took away all the pretty bells & whistles & dedicated the rest of your memory to vids--- This and doom9 need codecs (anything you run into will most likely). Off the shelf software is okay too. The guys who wear cams may be able add a little to this. Besides, I don't know whether you are PAL or ntsc, and a few of these don't go both ways. Sorry so long... I thought twice about replying and gave in. THere'[s no short answer with me. Once you have the VOB files on your hard drive, what do you use to burn them onto a DVD? My (Roxio) program that came with my DVD drive wants to re-encode them and it takes hours while making them bigger than they started out!...
