Sheenster303 0 #1 December 15, 2004 I just started going back to work about a few weeks ago and I already want to injure some of the customers that I have to deal with. I thought my patience would be better after having time off, but noooooo.....it's only gotten worse. I work at a grocery store and I have to deal with stupid people all the time. Most of the time I try to see where they are coming from, but there are other times when I just want to rip my hair out and scream at these people for being so dumb. Yesterday must have been "Stupid People Must Go to the Grocery Store to Bother Sheena" day. Like for example, I had a line with about 3 people in it. Someone walks up ahead of these people and asks me if I was open. I had my light on and I was checking people out. I just looked at him and said "No I'm sorry sir. I don't know what gave you the impression that I was open besides the fact that I am checking people out and my light is on." I swear one day I'm going to get fired. Ohhhhh this isn't a stupid customer story, but something that happened at the store yesterday anyway. We have a Salvation Army person outside the store ringing her bell everyday. This old man walks into the store and asked me to call a manager. I did immediately cuz he looked pretty pissed off. So the manager comes down and they talk right at the end of my register. The old man asks the manager "Is this an American store?" The manager was like uhhh yeah. The old man goes well if this is an American store, don't you think the Salvation Army person should be an American, not some Mexican? I expect you to get an AMERICAN by tomorrow. If not, I will boycott this store. The manager just looked at him like he was crazy and told him to go ahead and boycott. What is wrong with people???!!! I've had days when I just want to throw stuff at some of them and say something really nasty, but then i remember that the job pays fairly well and is helping put me through school so I just smile and say have a nice day I think being nice pisses them off just as much as being nasty does...especially when they're trying to get a rise out of you... *daizey* Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I'm all about welfare helping people who need it, but sometimes it's hard to bite my tongue when they buy 300 dollars worth of food on food stamps where the majority of it is steaks that I can't even afford and all kinds of expensive seafood. Then they buy 100 dollars worth of alcohol and put it on a credit card. Then they take their 2 carts full of food and expect it to fit in their jaguar with their 6 kids. I know that is not how all welfare recipients are, but I experience about 3 people like that everytime I work. The rich snobby people are horrible though because you know they have the money, but they will try to get something free everytime they come in. Every once in a while I would get a customer who would be totally awesome and use manner and it would make my day, for the most part they were just pricks who like to treat other people like shit, it happened so often I started to wonder what that person/persons would look like if I set them on fire (the customers were that bad). Working out afterwards was always an AWESOME outlet of rage. I always loved that movie Clerks. My fav lines are "Just because we serve you, doesn't mean we like you" and "This job would be great if it weren't for the fucking customers" Chris I thought of the odds of me succeeding, versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid, and I went ahead anyway. I used to work at a grocery store in a nice area, and they were regularly catching pink haired well-to-do old ladies jacking cosmetics.
