Could this Christmas suck any worse?

Long, but you may get a laugh from my misery...

Okay, I knew quite a while ago that I could not go to Eloy because I'm the unlucky SOB with the oncall pager over Christmas. It's nothing glamorous like a doctor, just server administration.
Last week I had to work alot because we had some after hours changes. This week was supposed to be very easy because most people were out and nothing was planned.
Nope, started Sunday, got called and had to fix a problem about 3 hours or so, did the quick fix and was the plan was to research monday. Researched Monday and had to make a change Monday night.
Since my week was already going to hell, I decided to be nice and take the oncall pager a day early so at least someone could enjoy the holidays.
Big mistake. even though nothing was planned, practically everybody is off so I'm getting all the "I tried to call my administrator, but they are off and referred me to this number..." calls.
If that isn't enough while working at home I hear dripping and then water running. I walk into my kitchen and water is coming through the ceiling and soaking everything. I call the landlord and tell him what is happening and he says he'll be right over.
I live in the basement of an old house that has been converted to 3 apartments, 1 per floor. The other 2 are currently empty and the heat was turned off. A water cutoff valve in the kitchen on the top floor burst and leaked outside the house and down through the floors as well.
Before my landlord got there the leak started making its way to my bedroom where it got a dresser with most of my clothes in it, alot of which I had just washed.
He got there, cut off the water and checked the apartments. He called a cleanup crew and a plumber. The cleanup crew came pretty quick, but the plumber was not going to be out for a while. Turns out other apartments had the same problem with pipes bursting all over town. Ironically my landlord basically had everything of his ruined from a water pipe break just a few weeks ago.
Luckily he is a property manager so I was able to get a temporary apartment last night a few miles from my place. I didn't have cable Internet but I did have dialup so I could still work.
Yesterday morning I woke up early and thing went to hell at work again. The thing that broke two days ago broke again just a little differently. I never even got to leave the apartment, I even got a call that the busted pipe was fixed and I could go home but I couldn't get away until after 5. I get to the house and the water is off. I call the landlord and he says they found anther leak which they are going to fix themselves.
While they are doing this, I start taking dishes out of cupboard to wash them and find them full of water and spill them all over the kitchen. Luckily they had a wet dry vac so most of the water was able to be vacuumed up.
Thinking that I was going to be able to wash my clothes, I take all of my wet clothes out of the wet dresser. About 10 they give up on fixing the pipe. Something about the solder not sticking correctly regardless of the heat and tell me to go back to the temporary apartment.
So now I sit here, typing this crap while everything I own is running through the washer and dryer in this place.
To add to the fun: I have to work all week, keep up with the oncall pager, do all my laundry, wash all my dishes, clean my apartment, replace the shelf paper in the cupboards once they dry, and did I mention my mother is coming Christmas?!?!?
Is this how country stars get started or is this more of a blues singer beginning?

Sorry about you're Xmas. The plumbing thing. You need to leave valves cracked to stop freezing and you can't solder a joint correctly w/ water on the pipes or incompatable solder if it's an older house. They need to cut out the joints and start anew. Call a real plumber and backcharge your landlord.

Hate christmas to be honest. Seems you are obligated to buy expensive gifts, don't get me started on the cheap lights and tinsel. The endless food preperation, cooking for family and friends, woe is me.

Maybe it's because i've had to stay dry for a few months, no tequila is blasphemy plain and simple.

Actually, they tried to get the heat turned back on a week ago but the gas company was backed up.
They did cut out the old joint and even drained the water from the pipe.
The plumber is supposed to be there tomorrow for something else, they will get him to fix that as well.
One more gripe, the dryer here sucks. 60+ minutes on high and things still aren't dry. And the loads are mostly t-shirts!!!

Thanks, it will get better. My mom and I were invited to his house for Christmas dinner (before I took the pager early).

Plus all the OT will help me pay down some debt. I've told myself no new rig until I get it paid off.

Yes, your Christmas could suck worse, as there are still a few days before Christmas is actually here, but we won't even go there. Never say things can't get any worse because as soon as you say that, they can/will.

The good news is that you have all of us dz.commers to commiserate with you and give you pep talks.

The better news is that you only have 6 more days until you head for Z-Hills and get to jump to your hearts content. I envy you.
