Slappie 9 #1 December 22, 2004 I was driving to get some lunch and saw Steve McQueen on a billboard for some watch. Think the brand was Taug. It got me to thinking about classic american icons. Who was the one you always thought represented your personality. For me it was Steve McQueen always cool, suave and had everything under control. He wasn't the type of "I'll beat your ass, give me respect" type. He had his quiet confidence and ability to handle any situation. Who was yours? Elaberate if you wish. Love to read the comments about who was your classic american hero. Slappie 9 #3 December 22, 2004 QuoteTommy Chong. HAHAH Ok Kev, I didn't think about that aspect of a "hero" but I gota give Tommy Chong and Cheech props for changing the pop culture the way they did. Saw Tommy on Leno a few weeks back. He claims he's quit the "herb" due to probation. He was promoting some show he's in on Broadway? Maybe it's off Broadway.. but it's a stage production. Darius11 12 #4 December 22, 2004 Clint Eastwood he is COOL. I think the word COOL = Clint Eastwood He is the Man. Silent, honest, and not a guy you would want to fuck with. Not to mention his voice. I look at some of the newer actors who try to be cool, and when I put them next to Clint they all look like bitchs.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain

Kennedy 0 #11 December 22, 2004 The one who represents where I want my personality to be is John Wayne. QuoteIf you've got them by the balls their hearts and minds will follow. Talk low, talk slow and don't say too much. Courage is being scared to death - but saddling up anyway. Nobody liked my acting but the public. I've always followed my father's advice: he told me, first to always keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult you, you can be goddamn sure I intend to. And, third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

SpeedRacer 1 #13 December 23, 2004 Two more John Wayne quotes: "There's right and there's wrong. You gotta do one or the other. You do the one, and you're living. You do the other, and you may be walking around, but you're as dead as a beaver hat." John Wayne to his Tennessee volunteers in 'THE ALAMO' ******************* "I aim to kill you in one minute, Ned, or see you hang at Judge Parker's convience...Which will it be?" flyhi 24 #17 December 24, 2004 The avatar says it all. Gotta love the Rat Pack. But I understand Steve McQ. Magnificent Seven and The Great Escape are still all-time classic movies. Plus Bullit. And the Sand Pebbles.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
