weegegirl 2 #1 December 24, 2004 So, my brother and sister-in-law are trying to fly to Pittsburgh, PA from Moscow, Russia. They arrived at JFK in New York for their connecting flight. Well, apparently the airline cancelled the flight to Pittsburgh "because of weather". But a buddy of mine who is in New York right now says it's clear, calm, and above freezing. I'm in Pittsburgh and it's fine here!! Normally when they cancel a flight, don't they offer an alternative?? Not now! They told them "sorry, cancelled," and that's that. So they looked into renting a car and all the cars are already rented. So now they are stuck in New York and there are no other flights and no cars. WTF?!?!?!?!?! I see my brother about once a year since he lives in Russia. This really f*cking SUCKS!!!! Sorry... now back to your regularly scheduled programming. Brian425 0 #3 December 24, 2004 I just pm'd you my contact info. He may be able to get a flight from LaGuardia or Newark airport. Have him call me if he is stuck, I'm in NYC. freeflir29 0 #4 December 24, 2004 Yeah..........not sure what was up last night. I got stuck in DC because my plane was all kinds of late trying to leave Laguardia. I don't think it was weather at that time in New York. I think it was delays from earlier in the day when the front rolled across the DC area. It sounds crazy......but that's how it works these days. weegegirl 2 #5 December 24, 2004 Brian, you are so kind!!! Thanks so much!! I just answered your PM. Okay, so an update... there is no flight out of ANYWHERE in NY tonight going anywhere near PA. Not even a connecting flight. So they are putting him and his beautiful wife up in a roach motel in NYC and he is on standby for a flight out in the morning. If all goes well he will join us just after breakfast. If nothing else, it's an adventure. His wife has only been to the US three times, including when they came over for their wedding. Good thing she is so positive and all. She is probably chearing my brother up as we speak. Although in her head she is probably thinking... crazy Americans!!!! Hahahaha. Thanks for letting me vent everyone!!!
airtwardo 7 #6 December 24, 2004 My wife is a Pilot for a major airline based in Newark... What no doubt happened is the weather elsewhere delayed or cancelled the flight in that would have been the aircraft for the Pitts. turn. Happens now and then...but with EVERYONE traveling this week...the snowball effect is huge. Hope they make it tomorrow! Sinkster 0 #7 December 25, 2004 I feel your pain. as I type this from my phone I'm in a "bar" in the memphis airport praying that a flight to the wrong city (just so I can get close enough to drive) isn't cancelled. been here hours. they cancelled my flight due to "no flight crew available", wtf?! the good news is I am drinking beer and scotch! haha cheers and happy holidays all! :)

She started learning English a couple of years ago when her and my brother first got together. She is so sweet, but some of her translations are absolutely hysterical!! Adrock 0 #11 December 25, 2004 Yeah good luck to all travelling right now...I just got into Kansas from DC-- only 39 hours late!! The first night, the flight was flat out cancelled out of DC, so they told me to just go home. The second night, I got to Atlanta but then my flight to Kansas was flat out cancelled so I slept there for the night. Finally got home tonight, but I know there's lots more stranded out there. Hope they all make it for Christmas. Addie

weegegirl 2 #15 December 25, 2004 Fuckers. Delta cancelled the flights today too. They told him they wouldn't be able to get him on a plane for 3 days. That's retarded. There are no rental cars in the New York City area. So, I booked them some train tickets this morning. They'll be here late tonight. So much for Christmas, eh?
