kallend 2,196 #1 December 26, 2004 Any recommendations? I saw Lemony Snicket last night. OK, but Jim Carrey spoiled it IMO. 2.5 stars from me Was thinking of seeing The Aviator. I liked the original Flight of the Phoenix (Jimmy Stewart) very much, not sure I'd like the remake. Did anyone see it?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. My kids (who have read some or all of the books) said it was not really true to the books. The baby made the movie! What a hoot! The other kids' characters were good as well, and I liked some of the others. Jim Carrey was just OK in this one. I'm with you on the 2.5 star rating. QuoteWas thinking of seeing The Aviator. Looks worthwhile, even though Leonardo DiCaprio is not on my favorite actors list. QuoteI liked the original Flight of the Phoenix (Jimmy Stewart) very much, not sure I'd like the remake. Did anyone see it? I can't imagine that this remake could even touch the 1965 original, which was packed with an all-star cast: James Stewart, Sir Richard Attenborough, Ernest Borgnine, Peter Finch, Hardy Kruger, George Kennedy. The IMDb listing gives it a user rating of 7.6 out of 10, which is right on in my opinion. At 2 hours 22 minutes, it's also a long one for that era. My 13 year old son wants to see it. I told him we would rent the original, then go the the remake in the same day. Then he gets to tell me which one he liked better. To me this is a perfect opportunity to introduce my son to appreciating older films. I still want to see National Treasure, which will probably be my first in order that I go see during the holiday slowdown.Arrive Safely John

Just and "ok" movie.
