Tf15 0 #1 December 31, 2004 I'm running XP Pro on my laptop. Everything works fine EXCEPT that when I go to Windows Update, IE hangs. The only way out is ctrl alt del to the task manager to shut IE down. IE works fine on all other web sites I've tried. Is this wierd or what? Tried restarting the PC - no difference. Odd thing is that the MS update sites are the only ones that do it! Three times is enemy action

rhino 0 #10 January 1, 2005 I've seen this,,, You need to download sp2 and install it outside of windows update. Also make sure that your installer service is turned on. Rhino http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/prices.aspx?itemId=909271&stext=
Tf15 0 #11 January 1, 2005 Thanks, all. Got update to run after turning off a spyware shield. New problem - Windows Media V10 gets all the way to the end of the installation and then says it can't install, run it again. And again. And again... mnealtx 0 #12 January 1, 2005 I had the same problem with updating WMP with Windows update. In the end, it solved itself by asking me if I wanted to update after I started it to play some music.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. kansasskydiver 0 #13 January 1, 2005 If you're running Norton antivirus and SP2 WMP 10 will not update. Turn off the real time protection and shut down "defwatch.exe" from the running applications off of the task manager and it should update fine<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist!
