CornishChris 5 #1 November 22, 2004 By Mark Haddon I read this book in 6 hours the other day. I read pretty prolifically and generally have two or three books on the go but I have to say that this is one of the best I have ever read - so much so that I am taking the time to recommend it. It is written from the perspective of a 15 year old British Autistic boy. He has trouble adapting to life in general but when he finds that his next door neighbours dog has been murdered ("I knew the dog was dead because it had a fork sticking out of it"), he decides to solve the case. Whilst this may sound strange (it is a bit), it comes across as a touching, funny and brilliant read. One that literally made it unputdownable and kept me thinking about it for days after. If any one else has read it I would love to hear their thoughts. Amazon Clicky CJP Gods don't kill people. People with Gods kill people
Adrock 0 #2 November 22, 2004 I agree with you that it is a great read. I actually picked it up because my brother is autistic and I was curious to see how it was written. Knowing what I do about autism and autistic behavior, it acutally seemed like it was pretty realistic. I recommend it to anyone! Addie
Snowbird 0 #3 January 1, 2005 Just finished reading it. Thanks for the recomendation! A very solid, quality book. I was cheering for Christopher on every page. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein
