The Quick and the Dead

Recommended Posts

I happened to pick this one up at Walmart tonight from the $5.50 bin... Ya gotta love that $5.50 bin!

I had heard the title before, probably from the novel (by Louis L'Amour), but had never seen the movie, which apparently was an HBO production. I don't even know if it had a theatrical release or not, based on that.

IT WAS GOOD! I mean, really really GOOD!

So if you haven't seen it, or haven't seen it in a while, head out to Walmart because they might have it for cheap. I really recommend it.

Is this the one with Sam Elliot as the pro helping the greenhorn family?

Wally-World, eh? I saw it on the tube when it first was out and loved it and have been looking for it.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

Is that the one with Gene Hackman And Sharon Stone in it..?????

If it is.... That was a kick a$$ movie...

Killer....

Oh, shit no, it was the Sam Elliot one mentioned above (I didn't even remember that the Sharon Stone movie was called by the same name)...

I hated that movie. HATED it. Sorry. You're still free to like it, of course. :P

Sam Elliot was great, Tom Conti was great, Kate Capshaw was great, the main bad guy was really great, and even the son was pretty good! I can barely believe how much I loved this movie! There were also a lot of really nice, Ansel-Adams-like panoramic scenes. I liked that a lot. It was very artistic.

What stands out in my mind most from the Sharon Stone movie was the stupidity of being able to see a daylight hole in the shadow of a man who had been shot in the chest. Absolutely preposterous. I thought that scene was insulting, it was so bad. Does anyone doubt that organs and tissue would close up around a bullet wound to the chest? I mean, the guy wasn't cored, he was shot... :S

The only good reason for a man to watch this movie (the person on the right).

But she really needs to work on her trigger control...

Man, I hate that in movies when these actors are firing handguns and just jerking the muzzle around like tards. It always ruins it for me. I'm a big believer in gun control. ;)
