rickjump1 0 #1 July 8, 2009 Can anyone out there make my slider into a collapsable one? I still have to roll it up with a velcroe tab. It's an early Jedhi 136.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
riggerrob 643 #2 July 8, 2009 First, ask your local Master Rigger if he/she knows how to sew kill-lines to your existing slider. Hint: hundreds of riggers have sewn kill-lines onto thousands of old sliders. If you still think you need a new slider ...measure the size across the center of the span and the center of the chord. That measuring method ignores thread take-up/seam shrinkage when the new slider is sewn.
Ronaldo 0 #3 July 8, 2009 This is a really easy modification to make, send it to any rigger. If you had the material and sewing skills you could do it yourself.Engineering Law #5: The most vital dimension on any plan drawing stands the most chance of being omitted

masterrig 1 #5 July 9, 2009 I've seen many slider conversions to collapsible and most of them were totally sloppy workmanship and didn't work well. Be selective in who you have do the work. Chuck
Parafoil27 0 #6 July 9, 2009 I have a piece of webbing with magnets sewn into it. after the slider comes down i just put the webbing around the slider and stick the magnets together. Nice and quick. west33freefall 0 #7 July 13, 2009 I jump a Jedei 170. My slider has two kill lines and the velcro center. I still have to roll mine up after I colapse it, pul it down over my toggles and front risers and stow it behind my head. If you slider is like mine it has a lip on it which catchs more air and makes it open slower. But it also catches air even when its collapsed. So you might want to think about putting a single center kill line or like crossed kill lines. Just somethin to think about. it takes me a good 15-25 seconds after opening to get all set-up. rickjump1 0 #8 July 14, 2009 Basically, that's what I do now. I roll it up with an extended velcro tab. I just don't like the time it takes to do this. Thanks all again.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
