Are any of the skydiving goggles ok for snowboarding?

I have a pair of Sorez (sp?) that I use for riding my motorcycle at night with...does that help?:P:P

Lol...not really. I am just trying to help close friends who are leaving for a snowboarding trip in the morning and have no goggles. I have 1/2 dozen skydiving ones, most of which I never use because they are not a good fit on my face. If my goggles are ok to use when snowboarding, then I'd give them to my friends.

I just used my skydiving goggles for skiing. They were making snow and I didn't have my ski ones with me.

They work ok, but it is a bit of a pain to get them to fit right on your face if you're wearing a beanie or anything else on your head. Send them with your friend, it's better to have them and not need them.

Good luck. :)

I'd say no if they are going to be doing anything that involves sweating. I fogged up my sunglasses all the time on the slopes. With my insolated skiing goggles I've never had the issue at all.

Plus skiiing goggles cover more of the face to minimize windbure/sunburn.

Pick up a set in the ski shop, no more then about $30 and they are set.

You know, they could always get a pair on the internet and have it overnighted to the hotel they're staying out, in their name c/o the hotel. Then it'll be there right quick for them and they'll probably still save money.

Depending on where your friends are going, they shouldn't spend $60 on goggles. It will also depend if your friends buy namebrand goggles as to how much money they are going to be spending.

Where are they going?

Nope, they fog up to easy.

A couple of weekends ago I was skiing with my Gatorz and had no problems with them at all. But I wasn't really working up a sweat crashing like most knuckle draggers do ... oooh that was a low blow wasn't it.

So I guess the answer really depends on the individual using them, what kind of a skier/boarder they are and what sort of WX conditions they encounter.

Correct, plus ski/boarder goggles help in flat light and if it's bright, cut back on the glare.

Mybe it's because I live in soCal, but I hear that they run at least $60 at the ski shops in L.A.

You really don't have to go a sky shop to get googles. Just try one of those large sports stores like Sports Authority or Models or whatever else is out there.
They can definately get a set of cheap goggles for <= 20 bucks

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I still have the flu...had it REALLY bad for about 8 days (fever, bad congestion, the works), so I walked away from my computer in the middle of getting all these responses because I felt cold (raining non-stop outside) and crawled into bed. Then, I eventually fell asleep! Sorry! :$

About this situation...my close friends are going to Big Bear (I think:$...I actually should know this since I was begged to come along on this trip...but I am sick and not up to it), and the one that really needs the goggles is the cousin, who is going as a guest of the son (only child...both turn 15 years old in Feb). The cousin arrived early last night without goggles. They drove immediately to the nearest store that would have them and I heard the cheapest ones were $70.00 (inlcuding tax). Trust me, they aren't TRYING to get "designer goggles":D or anything, but the time thing is a factor. If they had time to shop around, it would have been fine, but right now...it's either borrow my goggles or buy some pricey ones there. :|

Thanks ALL of you for your answers! :)

$70 :o What the hell:S

If they are going through Big Bear, and if I remember correct, there are some shops in town that I think they will have better luck at.

Damn, I could ship you an extra pair I have for a lot cheaper.

This is off the subject, but the last time I went skiing, I took my ol' Factory Diver helmet along, sans face shield. Went up to Kirkwood, CA with my brother. My regular ski goggles were a perfect fit in the helmet's face opening, just a tiny sliver of skin exposed on the cheeks and nose, but still protected from the wind blast. And boy, was that helmet WARM!
