VanillaSkyGirl 6 #1 January 3, 2005 Can anyone tell me if any of the skydiving goggles are ok to snowboard with? If so, which ones? Thanks in advance!

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #3 January 3, 2005 QuoteI have a pair of Sorez (sp?) that I use for riding my motorcycle at night with...does that help? Lol...not really. I am just trying to help close friends who are leaving for a snowboarding trip in the morning and have no goggles. I have 1/2 dozen skydiving ones, most of which I never use because they are not a good fit on my face. If my goggles are ok to use when snowboarding, then I'd give them to my friends. soulshine 0 #5 January 3, 2005 I just used my skydiving goggles for skiing. They were making snow and I didn't have my ski ones with me. They work ok, but it is a bit of a pain to get them to fit right on your face if you're wearing a beanie or anything else on your head. Send them with your friend, it's better to have them and not need them. Good luck. PhreeZone 20 #6 January 3, 2005 I'd say no if they are going to be doing anything that involves sweating. I fogged up my sunglasses all the time on the slopes. With my insolated skiing goggles I've never had the issue at all. Plus skiiing goggles cover more of the face to minimize windbure/sunburn. Pick up a set in the ski shop, no more then about $30 and they are set.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

dqpacker 7 #8 January 3, 2005 yeah skydiving goggels are not good for snowboarding u can get a pair of snowboarding ones for less than 20 dollars just get them at a shop not on the mountain because most mountain shops jack the price up

AggieDave 6 #11 January 3, 2005 You know, they could always get a pair on the internet and have it overnighted to the hotel they're staying out, in their name c/o the hotel. Then it'll be there right quick for them and they'll probably still save money.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." flyangel2 2 #12 January 3, 2005 Depending on where your friends are going, they shouldn't spend $60 on goggles. It will also depend if your friends buy namebrand goggles as to how much money they are going to be spending. CanuckInUSA 0 #13 January 3, 2005 QuoteNope, they fog up to easy. A couple of weekends ago I was skiing with my Gatorz and had no problems with them at all. But I wasn't really working up a sweat crashing like most knuckle draggers do ... oooh that was a low blow wasn't it. So I guess the answer really depends on the individual using them, what kind of a skier/boarder they are and what sort of WX conditions they encounter. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
flyangel2 2 #14 January 3, 2005 Quotewhat sort of WX conditions they encounter. Correct, plus ski/boarder goggles help in flat light and if it's bright, cut back on the glare.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Just try one of those large sports stores like Sports Authority or Models or whatever else is out there. They can definately get a set of cheap goggles for <= 20 bucks Inveniam Viam aut Faciam I'm back biatches!

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #18 January 3, 2005 Thanks to everyone for the responses. I still have the flu...had it REALLY bad for about 8 days (fever, bad congestion, the works), so I walked away from my computer in the middle of getting all these responses because I felt cold (raining non-stop outside) and crawled into bed. Then, I eventually fell asleep! Sorry! About this situation...my close friends are going to Big Bear (I think...I actually should know this since I was begged to come along on this trip...but I am sick and not up to it), and the one that really needs the goggles is the cousin, who is going as a guest of the son (only child...both turn 15 years old in Feb). The cousin arrived early last night without goggles. They drove immediately to the nearest store that would have them and I heard the cheapest ones were $70.00 (inlcuding tax). Trust me, they aren't TRYING to get "designer goggles" or anything, but the time thing is a factor. If they had time to shop around, it would have been fine, but right now...it's either borrow my goggles or buy some pricey ones there. Thanks ALL of you for your answers! My regular ski goggles were a perfect fit in the helmet's face opening, just a tiny sliver of skin exposed on the cheeks and nose, but still protected from the wind blast.
