erdnarob 1 #1 July 7, 2009 I am desperatly trying to reach Icarus Canopies. I tried NC and SDC. I don't know if they could be on holidays. I am looking for the line specifications of a Safire 149 (made in 1998). A fellow jumper got this Safire which was relined and we suspect there could be the wrong length for the steering lines and maybe other lines too. Also could anybody give me the way the Safire 149 is flaring (short range or medium range). I have jumped a Safire 209 in 1998 at the WFFC at Quincy but there was a lot of wind and I landed super soft with the toggles at chest level. Can anybody help me ? dragon2 2 #2 July 7, 2009 Don't know about the specs, but a safire you need to flare quite deep. I think there's a difference between USA and Spanish Safire's (I've had both) but both have long steering lines to the point I had to shorten the ones on my safire 135 and i like my steering lines long but got short arms lol ciel bleu, Saskia
billvon 3,119 #3 July 7, 2009 The original Safire 1 had an odd brake line arrangement that didn't produce a great flare. A few people (including Derek) modified them and the flare got much better. I think their new linesets have the improved configuration.

masterrigger1 2 #5 July 7, 2009 Bill, Quote The original Safire 1 had an odd brake line arrangement that didn't produce a great flare. The Safire I had even length uppers from the factory. Quote A few people (including Derek) modified them and the flare got much better. I removed a lot of those mods at the owners request, even some that we did. Actually the openings were somewhat better but the landings suffered. Quote I think their new linesets have the improved configuration. The Safire II has totally different line trim charts than the Safire I across the board. The replacement line sets for the Safire I are the same as always with all the uppers the same length. masterrigger1 2 #7 July 8, 2009 Overall measurement ( from line attachment at Tail---upper control line) straight down to the toggle mark or loop should be 360.5cm. This measurement is the upper, lower, and toggle line combined. ...from the loop that joins the uppers down to the brake set loop is 231.1cm Hope this helps! erdnarob 1 #8 July 8, 2009 Hello Masterrigger1. Thanks a lot for the info. the total length is then 360.5 cm which is 141.9 inches. The measurement I made was 142.5 inches which means the steering lines are OK. The problem seems to come from the risers which are 25" long, way too much for an average size person. I suggested the owner to order 21" risers. Do you have by any chance the spec of the rest of the lines ??Learn from others mistakes, you will never live long enough to make them all.
