Jeff Tate still has the best voice in Rock N Roll. I've seen them a couple of times but I thought the Empire-Mindcrime tour was by far the best. The visuals on Mindcrime were awesome.

Chris

Just found out that QR is doing the entire Mindcrime set for the first time in 15 years (wow, I'm getting old). Set one is a best of, set two will be Mindcrime.

Apparently this is a setup for their next release: Operation Mindcrime II (no joke).

I'll be seeing them on Jan 19th at the HOB here in town (they've sold out 3/4 shows already)

SWEET! I was a diehard fan in the late 80's and early 90's. Lived and breathed their music. I saw the Empire tour when they were still doing the whole Mincrcime album in its entirety, with the video up behind them the whole time. Fuckin incredible. 2nd row Friday night and 1st row Sat night (Chris's guitar pic included) with backstage after the concert. Unfortunately, only the bassist came out. But nevertheless, it was a cool experience. They are awesome in concert.

To this day that "Building Empires/Mindcrime" tour was the best concert I have ever seen. I guess they have updated the video and will be using it in the concert.

I've had a chance to hang with the band a few times over the years....all pretty cool guys.

Hey speaking of Mindcrime, I am sure I am not the only one who picked up on the video they use in concert shows a long haired kid, but in one of the first songs on that album it states "skin job for hair do man you look real cool". OK I just am a little anal about things like that.
I saw them when they opened for KISS in 1984 on their Warning tour, and then again on the Promised land tour.

I still have my CD-ROM game from them.
The only song that didn't fly was "One Night in Paris", put on the Ford Fairlane sound track but, never on any of their albums. (they didn't really like the sond so they gave it to soundtrack and left it alone);)

I read that they updated the video....my thoughts are they got rid of the shots from the late 80s and early 90s of the protests, Regan, etc and replaced it with GW and other current events to back up what they used to brainwash him with.

How cool is that - I get to see the concert and get the new cd on the same day, plus they are going to record the show I will be at. Do you know anything about it? Does it continue his story? Wonder if they will ruin the mystery about Sister Mary (alive or dead, did Nicki kill her, etc)

They use both videos an updated one and parts of the 80's and 90's video. The set is more acted out like theatre than relying on all the video stuff and is much more entertaining. ( Rock Opera) I think you'll like it. Our show just hinted at the new CD with one of the new songs playing after the show was over.

I just don't want to spoil it for you by telling you to much. Enjoy it, I did.

The digital re-releases have "Paris" as a bonus track.

I still have that Myst-like game somewhere as well. The Promised Land game...boy did that suck. I think that CD and Game sucked the majority of their imagination out of them...they haven't been the same since.

So you don't think it is similar to the concert they did in 90/91 when Suicidal opened for them?

Got it when it first came out in 91! Have the re-release of it as well. Yup, it is really good!

Yup, I'm a QR geek.

It's the Mindcrime set updated and acted out. The same script but more of a live thing They used some real actors playing the parts of Nikki and others. I think Pamela Moore was also back playing the part of Mary.

The show was very good and was a different take on the Mindchrime set than the one I saw on the Empire Tour with Suicidal Tendancies. The actors had my mind wondering what they were going to do next. It really had my attention

Chris

I really enjoyed it. The video was updated and kind of hammered GW a little bit.

It is the same concert but acted out live which really had my and the rest of the audiences attention.

Pamela Moore was back playing Mary and in addition they had actors and actresses playing Nikki and others in the original script. I just wish they could have had a live version of the diabolical Doctor X,
could have made the set a little more sinister than the video.
