For contrast, the lowly 45 ACP handgun loaded with standard 230 gr round at 800 ft/s produces 653 ft/lb of energy.

Hey! Watch what you call "lowly"!



To be clear, the 45 ACP is my first choice for self defense, but noting that the eBay ad talked about "vaporizing" some targets with those steel darts, I'm sad to say I've never yet seen one of my targets "vaporized" by a 45 round, even though it is apparently more powerful.:(
