Smallest most aerodynamic container?

Recommended Posts

Proper harness fit has a greater affect on freeflying than container size.

Start by deciding which SIZE of CANOPIES will keep your legs intact - for the next few hundred jumps, then order a custom-built harness and container.
Any harness - from any manufacturer - custom-sized specifically to fit you will improve your freeflying.

As others have said, the fit of the harness will affect you much more than the size of the rig. The size of the rig definitely does make a difference, but that difference is negligible at this point in your progression.

Since you are smaller, go with a rig that offers cut in laterals. This will keep the rig more snug against your body. The less the rig moves around on you the better. The cut ins will also prevent any gap between the bottom of the container and your butt. The rental gear almost certainly has a gap here and that has a pretty big affect on freeflying.

There are tons of great rigs out there that will fit you properly. I personally jump Vector 3s and love them. Look around.

Your priorities for buying a rig should be:
1) Fits an appropriately sized main/reserve combo for your experience
2) Properly fitting harness
3) Comfort / cool factor

Get yourself some good coaching and you'll find that the thing most affecting your freeflying is you, not the container.
