RkyMtnHigh 0 #1 January 11, 2005 Today was my first day of training with my new company. We had all departments come in and discuss policies and guidelines. HR, Marketing, Sales, IT, and Communications. When Communications came in I thought of PK. They specifically referred to the fact that we are forbidden to use the company laptop for personal use such as Public Forums or Chat Rooms; furthermore we are forbidden to mention our company product or name on a Forum or Chat Room. They said it was no different than calling the Wall Street Journal for a Press Release. I appreciate PK giving us the headsup and the reinforcement from my company today. They gave several examples where employees were let go based on accusations of insider trading and revealing info in Chat Rooms which were later used in court. I didn't realize the magnitude of this problem. It's a shame. BTW..I am not posting this from the company laptop, I am on my personal laptop and will not mention my company's name or product on dz.com or elsewhere. ....back to studying for me....and back to your regularly scheduled program. Knowledge is Power. _________________________________________

I was working in the network dept of TCI at the time. We lost connectivity to many of our remote sites. One of our network engineers started talking about it on an online forum. A reporter from the Wall Street Journal saw the posting and called him, so he gave her a telephone interview. He was marched out of the building the next day when the story came out. What none of us knew at the time, was that AT&T was in secret talks to acquire TCI."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. Those were the most painful several days as we tried to get our network back in one peice. Amazingly enough I still in a way work for that compay since I've been kept with every merger that happened to it.Fly it like you stole it!
