slightly tight container

Recommended Posts

Hmmmmm... Without more info I suspect that the answer may be NEITHER.

1. Make sure that you are distibuting the bulk of the main canopy correctly. Often folks pack the main too much like the shape of a football, which makes the middle of the container tight...and the sides / corners empty. Pack to exploit the lateral space in the container...which will make the middle of the rig thinner.

2. Get a "power tool".

3. Watch a expert pack the rig. Have them watch YOU pack it and coach you.

Since you psycho pack, make sure you do not make too small a roll, laterally. When you fold the wings in, make sure you're not brining them in too deep. You want the roll to be very tight and make it slightly wider than the bag. When you bag it, take a moment to squeeze the roll into the bag, focusing on the bottom corners.

Bag shape and placement in the container can also affect tightness. Do you have the correct D-bag for your rig?

Finally - make sure your closing loop is short enough to give you a tight closing, but not so tight that you're killing yourself to close on each pack job.

Talk to your mentor/instructor/rigger/friend.

Have fun.

Sorry guys i mean tight as in the harness is a little snug even with just the reserve in it. Now it's not too tight to be comfortable just a little tighter than i would like it.

I'm kinda wondering if it's the way the reserve is packed causing it. I have noticed the back pad is puffed out quit a bit over the reserve.

Get a second opinion from a rigger who has packed a few dozen of that model container.
