Vallerina 2 #2 January 13, 2005 Yes, my last jump at Skydive Indiana. It was a 5-way with the guys who were my original instructors/jumpmasters. We did a nice dive, and I shared some kiss passes. Then, at the end, we formed a line, and we all faced our dz for one last look from the air. I had't been there anywhere near as long as some of my instructors (who had been there for almost 30 years), but where I started and the people there will always be special to me.There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

Brigitte36 0 #4 January 13, 2005 I was in a big way in memory of a friend. Many of us cried. Have I ever jumped when it was so good or beautiful I almost cried? No, the feeling is closer to orgasm in my experience.

skymama 37 #6 January 13, 2005 Well, I wanted to cry, but not in a good way. I got slammed so hard on an opening that it ended up tearing my pectoral muscle and damaging my rotor cup. Tears immediately started welling up in my eyes from the shock and pain and then I realized I still had to land the damn parachute. So, I shook myself out of it and still had a good landing. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
VampireGirl 0 #7 January 13, 2005 Was trying to get my cat 10 (still don't have it) and it was the last coach jump of the holiday... first jump with a new instructor... he took one look at me and just kept on shaking his head to indicate NO THAT'S WRONG!!! I had a good landing, but needed a few minutes in the loo balling my eyes out for about 15 minutes before I could face the video and the debrief. A turning point in my skydiving carreer... I asked myself: "isn't this supposed to be fun??" From now on, I don't care how long it takes me to get the next acheivement, as long as I can still skyive and have fun, that's all that matters, the achievements are just bonuses along the way... www.sneale-create.com
flyangel2 2 #8 January 13, 2005 Val, wait till JFTC On the 1999 JFTC event, when I knew we had that record, I found myself crying as I was tracking away. On the 2002 event, I held the tears till after I landed. Also the day that I released Jack's ashes on a skydive.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. D22369 0 #14 January 13, 2005 Ever felt the water works coming after a jump?*** yep, going for my tandem rating, first jump with the instructor, got distracted by several things - camera man almost taking us out and the instructor taking controll and putting us in a hard spin - and forgot the practice pulls while trying to negate the spin - when it came time to release the drogue...for the life of me couldnt feel the main drogue release, so went for the secondary, couldnt feel it either..... frantically tried to find either and gave up at around 4000' and focused on the reserve handle ( the only one you can see ) I had my hand on it as the instructor pulled the secondary........... If I had been one second faster on the reserve I may have killed myself and a good friend. I wanted to crawl into a hole and die when we got to the ground, he wasnt very happy, but did seem to enjoy dancing around waving the drogue release chanting "I got the handle... yep, I wanted to cry, We debriefed the dive extensively and I spent the whole evening mentally replaying the dive, and beating myself over it. got good and stinking drunk. then accepted that I had been given a hard lesson. the next one went picture perfect - (inspite of hitting the door frame on the way out ) and carwheeling end over end on the launch - while mentally doing the jedi mind trick---- "there is no side spin..." I wonder if his hearing has come back yet.... cause when I got the main release I screamed "YEAAA".... RoyThey say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it. Both of the smackdowns I gave you at the bar that night still rank as the best two I've ever given anyone, anywhere, in my life. I'm just not usually that quick on the trigger. Quote I wonder if his hearing has come back yet.... cause when I got the main release I screamed "YEAAA".... No hearing problems, and I'm sure it wasn't as loud as my "KNOCK IT OFF ROY!" on the jump that didn't go so well, so we're even. Oh yeah...and I tell this story WAY better than you do. livendive 8 #17 January 13, 2005 Quote*First jump back after breaking my ankle. Oh, I forgot one like that...the last jump I made before my first shoulder surgery. I knew it would be awhile before I was back in the air. I had to fight off the tears during/after that one. I'd been hitting it pretty hard, and knowing that I was going to be grounded indefinitely just plain sucked. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" Snowflake 0 #20 January 13, 2005 Yes now that you mention it. Went on a sitfly jump great exit. Then I turned a cartwheel and lost my brand new super pimpin custom painted helmet with a peice of turqoise in the middle of the back of it at 12.5, uppers honking. I spent a couple of hours looking for it came back to the DZ and then someone reminded me my pro-track was in it just to make my day. That surely made me wanna cry
JGarcia 0 #21 January 13, 2005 Two jumps: 1. My first jump after my dad passed away. He had confessed to my mother that he'd always wanted to make a jump, as they watched me make my first freefall jump (5 second delay). He didn't tell me directly because he didn't want to encourage me jumping out of "perfectly good planes." 2. When I fractured T6 and T7. The planet all of a sudden snuck up on me, following a sick front riser 180 on my Velo 90. OUCH! 1 night in hospital, 3 weekends without skydiving! I was EXTREMELY lucky I twisted my body at the last second, allowing me to avoid death/paralysis. The doctors were all amazed I didn't even have a bruise anywhere on my body. --JairoLow Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam! NWFlyer 2 #24 January 13, 2005 I was a total teary mess after #8 (2nd massively botched attempt at a clear & pull) because I thought I was never, ever going to get this skydiving thing and that I was about to be grounded forever. It was only a few months ago but it seems like decades now, and things are progressing nicely. I have a feeling that after that experience, I will be pretty emotional on the jump that gets me to my A (or on my beer jump after I'm licensed, either way).
