WHERE TO GO FOR SNOW ~

Recommended Posts

I have said since last summer, that this winter I wanted to try my hand at snowboarding. Now that I have a house again and can breath again, I'd like to plan something but am clueless where to even start looking. There has been tons of snow out West (Colorado, Wyoming, etc) and I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where might be a fun place to go play in the snow - to learn how to play in the snow but some place that also doesn't die once night time hits.

Suggestions, comments, rude remarks? Anyone else planning a snow bound trip cuz ya know, trips are always more fun in groups :P

of course out west is best... but if you wanna hang with me, i'll be boarding in seven springs, PA which is half decent riding for this side! ill be there jan 20-23, feb 3-6 and march 3-6! it would be a closer trip for you and we could have a blast!!! but if you want real snow go to colorado or tahoe or canada!

you better hope they get some serious snow, pronto. they lost their whole base a couple weeks ago, and only have a handful of trails open right now, all of which with lots of bare spots. and its 60 degrees there right now.

on the bright side, they are offering discounted rates because of the shit conditions. if thats a bright side. i will surely head out there once they get some decent natural snow down.

I have a place to stay at Tahoe (actually Kirkwood, 35 miles south), and it has been great this year. If I had to fly somewhere anyway, I would strongly consider Utah. Salt Lake is a major airport, easy to get to. Ski areas are relatively close to SLC, so no big drive after getting there. Lift tickets used to be cheaper than in CA or CO, and probably still are. Colder than Tahoe, so the snow is statistically better.

I'll be going to Breckenridge in late February, mostly to see a friend (who happens to have a place on a ski run there).

I would love to have you guys visit.. I likve just 40 minutes from some PREEMO boarding at Stevens Pass Washington.... BUT.. I have to say this year we do NOT have nearly as much snow as Lake Tahoe. When we were driving back from Eloy thru Nevada I could not believe how much snow was in Carson City and REno.. shich is on the desert side of Tahoe.. You gotta go there for sure.. Its a great place good runs.. great views.. and Casino's on the Nev side...

WOW....now THAT is what I picture when I think of a snowy vacation. AWESOME shots! Thanks for sharing. Guess I might research Tahoe although for some reason I had a bug up my butt to visit Colorado, although not really sure why. I was in Banff Canada about 5 years ago and would LOVE to hit that place again. Words can't describe. Thanks for all the tips gang.
