Shotgun 1 #1 January 13, 2005 Silly question, but I honestly don't know the answer... When someone says a "fifth" of whiskey (or whatever kind of liquor), what size bottle are they referring to?

Slurp56 0 #4 January 13, 2005 a fifth, is basically that, one fifth of a gallon (1/5). Its just a bit smaller than those 1 liter bottles of soda.________________________________________ I have proof-read this post 500 times, but I guarantee you'll still manage to find a flaw. Er, I think so, anyway . . . no that´s a pint, a fifth is the one not quite the size of a average wine bottle...a fifth is 750ml if memory serves me correctlyQuote Don´t belive the hype
PhreeZone 20 #6 January 13, 2005 750 mL. Don't you read the bottles as they are tipped skyhigh and you are chugging from them? Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

flyhi 24 #11 January 13, 2005 There are 25.6 ounces in a "fifth" of liquor. The "fifth" refers to one-fifth of a U.S. gallon. Since there are 4 quarts in a gallon, it also means, 4/5 of a quart or 1/5 short of a full quart. It's the tall, round bottle, but not too tall.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

AggieDave 6 #16 January 13, 2005 Quote Yeah, we do that at our DZ... a case of beer is actually a 12 pack of longnecks around here You're freak'n kidding! 12 does not equal a case. 18 does not equal a case. 24 equals a case. If you can't bring a case, bring a 1/5th of liquor (good tasting liquor). Prefered is some sort of rum or Jack Daniels. You show up to a DZ with an suitcase (18 pack) to pay off a first, you'll have to head back to the store, bring another case later or stand by for a LOT of razing. Its all good bull, a fun time, if you can't afford the beer that's one thing, if you don't drink...ok, bring some Dr. Pepper, if you don't believe in the tradition I feel sorry for you. You're missing out on a fun tradition that brings the dropzone community closer together.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." dqpacker 7 #20 January 13, 2005 Our dz is the same way. We have the beer rules on the fridge and some Instructors point it out to students. When a student gets lisensed or graduates we all cheer and then the Instuctor will say They aren't cheering for you, they are cheering for the beer!
