skybytch 273 #1 January 18, 2005 I've been at my new job for almost two weeks. The job description includes drawing patterns and cutting out fabric for custom sized jumpsuits. That's what I've been learning the past couple of days. It's hard. Not the drawing part, that's easy. The figuring out where, how and why to adjust the pattern while drawing it out... that's what's making my head hurt. I'll get it eventually. What's really scary is I'm gonna have to be good enough at this to train someone else how to do it before summer. The embroidery machine is fun to play with though. So much fun that my new freefly pants are going to have more logos than most sponsored jumpers suits do.

ACMESkydiver 0 #3 January 18, 2005 Sewing is A LOT harder than I thought it was gonna be, too. I had to take apart a Christmas dress and re-sew it back to gether for my tiny daughter's ice skating performance. 'bout knocked me out! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

mouth 0 #6 January 18, 2005 The reworked the pattern for my jacket thankfully since the first one was big enough for you, me, and another BIG person to fit at the same time. flyangel2 2 #7 January 18, 2005 Quotenot all of us are well endowed. Excuse me, you got a lot more then me! Lisa, hang in there, you will get it. Just think back to the days when you were first learning about gear, or getting your rigging ticket, or your TI. Before you know it, you'll be able to make a jumpsuit with your eyes closed. ECVZZ 0 #19 January 19, 2005 Lisa, does Bomber still make separate "toppers" to match my FF pants? I didn't see 'em on the website last time I was there. Also, can you give me an idea what it'd cost to have some material taken out of the lower legs to tighten them up a bit? Lost some weight, so I don't need quite as much drag. Would make my head hurt too!! All depends so much on who did the measuring for the custom suit...gotta luv the torso measure (standing straight measure from the hole in throat down under the crotch and back up to bone at base of neck.. Nothing beats having the actual body there to try it on, and make adjustments. Also depends on the pattern I suppose- The material measurements for just poly/cotton compared to working with spandex/supplex nylon or taffetta. Have to have extreme patients and attention to detail....you will get it I had to draw some suits on graphics today- of course had a picture to follow but still a bitch! attached: kneeflyin.jpg back in the 'old days' when life was simple ...suit patterns: suit1- suit2 - suit3 SMiles
