br0k3n 0 #4 January 24, 2005 Personally I thought the way that MS Spyware handles hijacked search/home pages by replacing the hijacked page with msn.com was a little rude. Other spyware packages simply restore the page to “your” default settings.... Also it does nothing to protect users of the rival Firefox web browser from home- and search-page hijacking. And you have to verify your copy of XP to be able to download it… But still seems like and effective tool, although I would still recommend Webroot's Spy Sweeper http://www.webroot.com/----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
PhreeZone 20 #5 January 24, 2005 You can customize it to restore to your settings. Its not hard. I've even got a GPO programmed to do for work. And you do NOT have to verify your copy, you can bypass that page by clicking "No, do not validate Windows at this time, but take me to the download." britboynz 0 #7 January 24, 2005 We all had a laugh about this at work the other day. No doubt a few weeks after the final release of MS Antispyware, a major security flaw will be discovered and Microsoft will release a 'critical, should be applied to all systems' patch. Lozza 0 #8 January 24, 2005 Microsoft antispyware? I thought Microsoft was spyware? All those updates seem to do is shut down other programs on your system so Microsoft can slowly take over ya computer Lozza.
