boinky 0 #26 January 21, 2005 0 No gain. No loss. I'm being overly faithful on the diet. 1400 calories, less than 20 carbs daily. LOTS of water. I need to exercise more. I just have some personal issues going on right now that have made me lose my energy and desire to exercise. Sigh...2 weeks and I still need to lose 5 pounds. Breezejunky 0 #27 January 21, 2005 Wow, did I ever call it right on Monday! I was up three pounds last Monday so I said that if I stayed motivated I'd lose those three plus one. Which is exactly what I did! So, as weird as this is, I'm down 4 pounds since Monday but I'm only down 1 lb since Friday! Anyway, my numbers since Friday are: 185/177/160/-1 That's 8 solid pounds in three weeks! Been working out a lot too so feeling pretty good. I expect things will slow down to a pound a week or so from here on out though. Yay me!

OK, I'm no "Diet Guru" or nutritionist BUT the induction phase of Atkins (the 20 carbs per day bit) doesn't involve calorie counting, and there's a reason for that. It seems to me that by restricting your calories AND your carbs, you are slowing down your metabolism instead of speeding it up. 1400 calories isn't much at all- your body needs feul and if it isn't coming in the form of carbs, it needs something else! With that kind of diet, its no wonder you don't have the energy to exercise! Eat something or decide whether to count carbs or calories. Low carb works for a lot of people, but not for everyone! Just my thoughts! maura

peregrinerose 0 #30 January 21, 2005 After last week's up a lb, I'm back down to where I started, 141. I'm fed up with being the same weight, damnit! After dropping 85 lbs, this last 15 is a royal bitch. Been at this weight for 6 months. Just started drinking a lot more water though. Read a few studies that suggested milk helps with losing weight in general and helps with losing gut fat more than no milk in diet. I hate milk and most forms of dairy. I like cheese and ice cream, but stay away from both due to fatteningishness of both. So, started choking down 2 8 oz glasses of skim milk a day, and 8 oz of yogurt with lunch. Also just started drinking a lot less coffee and a lot more water a couple days ago, and ordered a couple more workout tapes. Been quite good working out at least a little bit every day, so that's going well. *sigh* Any pointers on getting past this damn 6 month stall in weight loss? Breezejunky 0 #32 January 21, 2005 Completely change your exercise routine. Assuming you have one. Your body gets used to the same routine so you have to shake it up a little. Do at least one very long cardio session a week (endurance) and one or two anaerobic interval cardio's a week . Plus weights, walking swimming, cross country skiing, kayaking, play 2 games of soccer, one of water polo and at least one night of great sex and that should do it..... TomAiello 26 #34 January 22, 2005 I'm currently at 178. I think that puts me up about 2 pounds on the week. Not surprising, considering I spent almost a week travelling, and didn't work out during that time. Plus, I went to dinner with various folks a whole bunch, and ended up at Starbucks several times a day (because someone closely associated with this web site happens to have chemical dependency issues with Starbucks). I'm back on the wagon now, though, so hopefully next week will be better.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
ACMESkydiver 0 #35 January 22, 2005 I've lost 9 pounds total since the first week...though I admit I haven't been keeping very good track of how much per which week. I will go up 1 pound tonight I'm sure; haven't eaten great today, and tonight we are going out to dinner. -Although it is at a Mongolian Grill, so that is actually pretty healthy vittles. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. SpeedRacer 1 #36 January 22, 2005 ooops, I posted on the old thread. anyway, I lost 0.5" around my waist this week. measured this evening after dinner. the thing that sux: We're gonna get snowed in this weekend. And its gonna get REALLT f&*kin cold. normally I would deal with this by staying home & watching videos & drinking lots of yummy homebrew & wine. maybe mulled wine. but since I'm doing this weight loss thing, i'm cutting back on alcohol, at least til the Superbowl. So I guess I'll have to sit thru the cold snowy weekend all sober. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
peregrinerose 0 #37 January 22, 2005 I get bored easily so do keep things diverse. For cardio, weather permitting I run a couple miles after work. At least 3 days a week, I do The Firm tapes (weights with some cardio), at least once a week is pilates, and occasionally I throw in Tae Bo just for shits and giggles. Plus I am in the middle of deconstructing/rebuilding my kitchen, so not like I'm inert any time other than at work. Oh yeah, does sex count as a workout?? boinky 0 #48 January 24, 2005 OK....so the bad news is that I am a moron. While keeping personal track of my poundage lost, I forgot that the totals would be different as I report in here on different days. The GOOD news is that I have lost a total of 5.5 pounds since we started. My short term goal is 10, so I have 4.5 to lose by the 4'th of February.
