I am no help at all. I still feel dumb over embarrassing moments from as far back as the 6th grade. They just NEVER leave my memory.

I also keep a running tally in my mind of the number of and severity of the stupid/embarrassing moments in front of each person I know in my life. The higher the count for that person, the more likely I will disappear very soon. Amazingly enough, Joe is way down there low in the count...most stupid things I do I did before I met him or in front of other people. That's how I can still look him in the eyes every day.
