kai2k1 0 #1 January 24, 2005 I may have found a new job, but, would you take it If you were away for 6 months to a year in "dangerous" conditions? The pay for the job is in execess of $80k for the duration of the contract. The contract could be extended at anytime. Also processing for the job would be 4-6 weeks with no pay. AggieDave 6 #3 January 24, 2005 Sure, but doing contract labor, although tax free, puts you serious harm's way. IanHarrop 42 #10 January 24, 2005 Don't go. The middle east is fucked up and they seem to really like killing foreigners. Money is not everything, unless you don't have any. But I'm out of work and would not even consider a job that had me travel to the middle east."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Also processing for the job would be 4-6 weeks with no pay. I already know what job that is. It seemed like I ran into someone waiting to leave at the bar in the Houston Airport Hyatt every time I was there. I have to say "NOT ONLY NO........BUT FUCK NO!" I'm about to take a job "In dangerous places." The difference is......I have 13+ years of training and experience in the field. I will be wearing the finest body armor made. I'll be carrying a Glock, M-4, and possibly be manning such wonderful weapons as a SAW and 240G. If someone wanted me to go over there to do a "regular" job, FOR ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY, I'd tell them to get bent! I may be going into harms way but at least I'll have the means and skills to defend myself. Cause.......like AggieDave says......you can't spend it if you are dead. tigra 0 #22 January 24, 2005 Do you have children? Is the money worth your marriage or your life? Personally, I think its one of those things where if you were single and had nothing to lose MAYBE it might be worth it, but if you've got a family? No way! redramdriver 0 #24 January 25, 2005 Hey Driver....the new "JOB" isn't all it's cracked up to be. I allready looked it over and although it does appear attractive it is more like on the year side that your gonna be gone...or longer. Yeah, the tax free funds appear great and probably are, for a single guy with no wife and kids. It would be great if I didn't have a close significant other or spouse or kids and was free to choose myself for myself. But, when you weigh the odds, they are against you. Stay home and take care of your business there. Blues from another Driver. So, you bring your beer? Its 5 o'clock somewhere POPS #9344
